CarGurus Analysis: 2026 Toyota Corolla
Summary
With 83 currently listed for sale and an average price of $29,000 CAD, 32.5% of 2026 Toyota Corolla listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2026 Toyota Corolla 5 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2026 Toyota Corolla stands out because it combines the Corolla nameplate’s long-running reputation for practicality with a much broader model range than earlier versions. It is available as a sedan or hatchback, and the lineup also includes the Corolla Hybrid and the GR Corolla. Toyota gives the car a sharper look than many people expect from a Corolla, with arrow-shaped headlamps, balanced proportions, and sculpted sides helping it feel more distinctive than merely sensible.
For buyers, the appeal is in how much choice and useful equipment the 2026 Toyota Corolla offers. Most versions use a 2.0-litre engine, while the hybrid pairs a 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and a CVT. Fuel economy is a highlight, with the hybrid rated as low as 4.5 L/100 km combined, and the GR Corolla brings a turbocharged 1.6-litre three-cylinder engine with 300 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Standard equipment on the entry-level sedan includes LED headlights and taillights, a reversing camera, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert, a seven-inch touchscreen and voice recognition, while the 2023 facelift added an eight-inch touchscreen display and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support for all models.
The 2026 Toyota Corolla also benefits from a strong reliability reputation and good long-term value. The latest Corolla was top-rated among compact cars in the J.D. Power 2024 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study, and Toyota ranked second overall in that study. At the same time, it is still very much a Corolla: practical, easy to live with, and built around low running costs rather than excitement. That balance is exactly what will appeal to many used-car buyers, even if some versions remain fairly bland and the engine choice is limited in parts of the range.

Is the 2026 Toyota Corolla a good car?
Yes — the 2026 Toyota Corolla is a 5/5 choice if you want practical, low-stress transportation with a broader range of body styles and trims than many compact cars. The Corolla lineup gives you a sedan or hatchback, plus hybrid and GR Corolla variants, so you can prioritise efficiency, everyday usability, or performance depending on your needs. It also leans into the model’s familiar strengths: sensible packaging, useful equipment, and low running costs, while adding a sharper design than many shoppers expect from a Corolla. With 36.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is a meaningful amount of attractive inventory to consider.
Is the 2026 Toyota Corolla reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The 2026 Corolla also carries a strong reliability reputation and is described as practical, easy to live with, and built around low running costs rather than excitement. That combination makes it a reassuring used-car pick if you want something that should be straightforward to own and maintain. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about complexity and more about choosing the version that best matches your needs, since some trims are intentionally modest.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Toyota Corolla?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a standout deal.
- Deal availability: 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 173 listings available.
Should I buy a 2026 Toyota Corolla or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2026 if:
- 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2025 if:
- It offers a straightforward, affordable package with strong reliability and more engaging driving manners than expected.
The bottom line: If you want the broadest current Corolla choice and a strong mix of practicality, efficiency, and value, the 2026 is the better primary target. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2025 is worth a look because it keeps the Corolla’s core strengths while potentially opening up a lower-cost path into the model.
