Why it stands out

The 2026 Mazda CX-30 stands out as a small crossover that leans into Mazda’s usual strengths: a premium-feeling interior, sporty driving character, and a design that looks more upscale than many rivals. It is also Mazda’s smallest crossover, which makes it appealing to buyers who want the higher seating position and hatchback practicality of an SUV without moving up to a larger vehicle. For shoppers comparing used examples, it is worth noting that the CX-30 has been described as a good deal, with prices that fall roughly in line with similarly sized competitors, while still offering the kind of cabin quality and driving feel Mazda buyers tend to value.

For 2026, the CX-30 is available with either a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with 191 horsepower or an optional turbocharged engine with up to 250 hp. Mazda’s i-Activ all-wheel-drive system and G-Vectoring Control Plus are standard in later model years, and there were no major changes for 2025 or 2026. The model also has a solid list of driver-assist safety features and top safety ratings from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Its main compromises are familiar ones: the rear seat is cramped and cargo space is limited, so buyers who prioritise roominess may want to look elsewhere.
