Is the 2026 Lexus NX a good car?

The 2026 Lexus NX earns an 7/10 expert rating, and it stands out as a compact luxury crossover with daring styling, a wide range of powertrains, and the reassurance of the Lexus badge.

The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10.

That said, the NX is not without trade-offs: the ride quality is poor, and cargo space is not especially generous compared with rivals. It is a strong fit if you want efficiency and choice in a premium compact SUV, but it does not always feel like a true luxury vehicle.

There are 22.8% good or great deals in the market, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Lexus NX reliable?

The 2026 Lexus NX is presented as a model with strong long-term confidence, and Lexus positions it with the reassurance of the brand itself. The expert review also points to the NX’s broad powertrain range and standard advanced safety features as part of its appeal.

Its dependability story is helped by the fact that the hybrid models are a particular strength, and the lineup was adjusted for 2026 to make the hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions more affordable. The standard Lexus warranty coverage includes a four-year/80,000-kilometre basic warranty and a six-year/110,000-kilometre powertrain warranty, while the hybrid models add an eight-year/160,000-kilometre warranty for hybrid-system components.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the NX’s premium pricing and mixed luxury feel may make it less satisfying if you expect a more polished ride and cabin experience over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Lexus NX?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The NX lineup includes base, Luxury, F Sport 2, Ultra Luxury, Executive and F Sport 3 packages across the non-hybrid, hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions. The base NX 350 does not quite live up to the luxury expectation, while the Executive package adds leather upholstery and the higher-priced packages bring more upscale equipment. The F Sport packages add adaptive dampers, black 20-inch wheels, a different front fascia, black roof rails, and black window framing.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a turbocharged 2.4-litre four-cylinder in the NX 350, a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre four-cylinder hybrid in the NX 350h, or the NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid with more continuous electric power. The NX 350’s eight-speed automatic and coarse power delivery are less impressive than the hybrid options.
• Safety package: The standard Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 suite includes forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, left-turn oncoming vehicle detection and braking, Risk Avoidance Emergency Steer Assist, adaptive cruise control, lane centring assist, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and traffic sign recognition. Safe Exit Assist is also tied to the electronic door handles. Park assist, front cross-traffic alert, lane-change assist, and a 360-degree camera system are available on some versions.
• Infotainment: A 9.8-inch infotainment touchscreen is standard on base NX models, while a 14-inch display is standard when you equip any package. All 2026 Lexus NX models come with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, and six USB ports. Wireless device charging is standard with any package, while a head-up display and 17-speaker Mark Levinson audio system are reserved for higher-priced packages.
• Fuel efficiency: The non-hybrid NX 350 is rated at 9.8 L/100 km combined, while the NX 350h is rated at 6.0 L/100 km combined and the NX 450h+ is rated at 6.6 L/100 km combined in hybrid mode. If fuel savings matter to you, the hybrid models are the clear draw.

Which 2026 Lexus NX trim should I buy?

The 2026 Lexus NX is offered in 6 trim levels: base, Luxury, F Sport 2, Ultra Luxury, Executive and F Sport 3.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the entry point, but the review makes clear that it does not quite deliver the luxury feel you may expect from the badge. It makes sense only if you want the lowest starting point and are comfortable with a more basic experience.
• Luxury: This is the first step up if you want a more premium feel without jumping all the way to the top of the range. It is a better fit if you want more comfort and a more convincing luxury presentation.
• F Sport 2: Choose this if you want the sportier look and chassis tuning, including adaptive dampers and the F Sport appearance changes. It suits you best if style matters more than outright ride comfort.
• Ultra Luxury: This is aimed at shoppers who want a more upscale specification and are willing to pay for it. It is the trim to consider if you want the NX to feel as premium as possible.
• Executive: This is the best-value recommendation if you want a stronger luxury impression, because it adds leather upholstery and sits closer to the premium experience you probably expect from the NX.
• F Sport 3: This is the most aggressive-looking version, with the full F Sport treatment and the most performance-flavoured presentation. It is best if you want the boldest styling and do not mind the firmer ride.

The standard Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 suite is included, and the available driver-assistance features expand from there on higher trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Lexus NX?

The market looks moderate for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 22.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 237 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.08% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $60,393 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2026 Lexus NX's resale value?

The current average of $60,393 CAD sits slightly below last year's $62,309 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the NX is currently more accessible to used buyers than it was a year ago. If you buy now, you may be entering at a more favourable point in the cycle than a seller did last year.

For a future seller, that means resale value may be steadier if the market remains balanced, but you should not expect a strong appreciation story. The NX’s hybrid appeal and premium badge help support demand, yet the current trend still points to a market that favours buyers more than sellers.

Is the 2026 Lexus NX safe?

The 2026 Lexus NX earns a 2025 Top Safety Pick from the IIHS, but it missed the higher Top Safety Pick+ award because of an Acceptable score in the updated moderate overlap front crash test.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 suite includes forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, left-turn oncoming vehicle detection and braking, Risk Avoidance Emergency Steer Assist, adaptive cruise control, lane centring assist, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and traffic sign recognition. Safe Exit Assist is also built into the electronic door handles.

You can also get park assist, front cross-traffic alert, lane-change assist, and a 360-degree camera system. The review notes that the NX can be overly eager with warnings when parking, and those alerts can be alarmingly loud.

Should I buy a 2026 Lexus NX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 22.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.08% compared with last year.
• The 2026 model keeps the NX’s hybrid value story strong while making the hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions more affordable.

The bottom line: If you want the current NX formula with the best mix of value and efficiency, the 2026 model is the one to focus on. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may still be worth comparing, but the 2026’s softer pricing and improved hybrid positioning make it the cleaner choice for most used buyers.
