New & Used 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee for Sale near New Mexico

Is the 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee a good car?

The 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a 6.8/10 from our experts. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

It’s a strong fit if you want a stylish midsize SUV with serious towing and off-road ability, and the 2026 refresh adds a more modern feel with a new turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a larger touchscreen. The trade-offs are clear: the test-drive notes call out middling fuel economy and poor value for money, and the loss of the 4xe plug-in hybrid means you no longer have an electrified option in the lineup.

With 28.6% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?

The 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee is presented as a familiar, mainstream SUV with standard four-wheel drive in Canada and a powertrain lineup that sticks to proven hardware. The new Hurricane 4 Turbo is described as impressive, and the V6 remains part of the range for lower trims.

Jeep also backs the Grand Cherokee with a three-year/60,000-kilometre basic warranty and a five-year/100,000-kilometre powertrain warranty, which is in line with most mainstream brands. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the model’s broader value proposition still depends on whether you’re willing to accept its efficiency and pricing compromises.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Grand Cherokee’s styling changes are subtle, but the cabin gets smarter materials and more equipment as you move up the range. Lower trims are expected to have cloth upholstery, while higher trims add leatherette or genuine leather, and some trims offer single-pane or dual-pane sunroofs.
• Powertrain: The Hurricane 4 Turbo is the headline engine for 2026, with 324 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque on regular gasoline. The base Laredo and Laredo X are expected to keep the Pentastar 3.6-litre V6 with 293 hp and 260 lb-ft, and both engines use an eight-speed automatic and standard 4WD in Canada.
• Safety package: Standard equipment is expected to include adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors. Active Drive Assist is available, but not on every trim.
• Infotainment: Higher trims can get a 12.3-inch touchscreen, while lower models continue with a 10.2-inch screen. All trims have a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard through Uconnect 5.
• Fuel efficiency: Jeep expects the Hurricane four-cylinder to return fuel economy as low as 8.7 litres per 100 kilometres combined. The V6 is rated at 10.9 litres per 100 kilometres combined.

Which 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in 7 trim levels: Laredo, Laredo X, Altitude, Limited, 85th Anniversary, Limited Reserve, and Summit.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point, and it’s the one to consider if you want the Grand Cherokee’s core capability at the lowest expected price. It should still give you standard 4WD and the basic safety and infotainment setup, but it’s the trim most likely to feel sparse compared with the rest of the lineup.
• Laredo X: Choose this if you want the same basic mechanical package as the Laredo but expect a bit more equipment or a slightly different value mix. It’s still a sensible starting point if you’re shopping carefully and want to keep costs down.
• Altitude: This is where the cabin starts to feel more upscale, with leatherette expected instead of cloth. If you want a better day-to-day experience without jumping too far up the price ladder, this is the trim that looks most like the best-value pick.
• Limited: This should be the sweet spot for many buyers because it builds on the mid-range formula with more comfort and convenience equipment while staying below the luxury-leaning upper trims. It’s the trim to target if you want a more polished Grand Cherokee without chasing the highest-priced versions.
• 85th Anniversary: This trim appears to be aimed at buyers who want a more distinctive version of the mid-range setup. Based on the available information, it should appeal if you want extra equipment and a more special-feeling specification than the core trims.
• Limited Reserve: This is where the Grand Cherokee starts to lean more clearly into premium territory, with genuine leather expected. If you care most about cabin materials and a more upscale feel, this is a strong step up.
• Summit: This is the top trim and the one for buyers who want the most equipment, including the largest audio setup and the most advanced expected 4WD hardware. It also aligns with the most luxurious presentation, but it’s the least value-focused choice.

The safety package should include the usual driver-assistance features across the lineup, but Active Drive Assist is not expected to be standard on every trim.

Is the 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee safe?

The 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee does not yet have current crash-test results from NHTSA, but the similar 2025 model earned five-star ratings overall, including five stars in front and side crash tests and four stars in the rollover evaluation. The IIHS has confirmed top “Good” scores in the small overlap front and updated side crash tests, along with a “Marginal” score for seat belt reminders.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Jeep says the standard safety suite should include adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors. Active Drive Assist is available, but it is not expected to be standard on every trim.

Should I buy a 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

• 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• The 2026 model adds a new turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a larger touchscreen, while losing the 4xe plug-in hybrid.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest version of the Grand Cherokee’s formula, the 2026 is the one to target because it adds the new turbo-four and updated tech while keeping the SUV’s core strengths intact. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may still make sense, especially if you’d rather prioritise value over the latest changes.
