Why it stands out

The 2026 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid stands out as a roomy, feature-rich three-row SUV that brings hybrid efficiency to a mainstream family hauler. Hyundai’s latest redesign gives it boxy, utilitarian styling and a standard third row of seats, while also making it larger and heavier than before. It is powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with an electric hybrid motor and a six-speed automatic transmission, and in Canada, HTRAC all-wheel drive is standard. Combined output is 231 horsepower, and the Santa Fe Hybrid is described as comfortable and composed rather than especially exciting to drive.

For buyers, the appeal is in how much equipment comes standard. The Preferred trim includes 18-inch alloy wheels, a hands-free power liftgate, synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a curved display with a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and digital instrument panel, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Safety equipment is also extensive, with features such as forward collision avoidance assist with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane keep assist, a driver condition monitor, and a safe rear-passenger exit warning system. Fuel economy is rated at 6.8 L/100 km in the city, 6.9 on the highway, and 6.9 combined, which helps explain why the hybrid is positioned as the efficiency-focused choice in the line-up.

There are a few trade-offs to keep in mind. The styling is polarising, and the driving dynamics are described as dull. Still, the Santa Fe Hybrid’s combination of standard features, three-row practicality, and strong fuel economy makes it a compelling option for shoppers who want a well-equipped SUV that prioritises comfort and efficiency over sportiness.
