How much does the 2026 Honda HR-V cost?

Prices have softened 4.87% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 188 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2026 Honda HR-V a good car?

The 2026 Honda HR-V earns an expert rating of 5.33/10.

The standout strength is Look and feel at 8/10.

It is a straightforward subcompact SUV that suits you if you value ease of use over flash, with a comfortable driver’s seat and easy-to-use technology. The refresh adds a larger touchscreen, faster response times, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and wireless smartphone charging, but the HR-V still feels unremarkable overall.

The trade-offs are clear: it is sluggish, its fuel economy is poor, and the back seat is uncomfortable.

With 35.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is some room for value-minded shoppers to find a worthwhile example.

Is the 2026 Honda HR-V reliable?

The 2026 Honda HR-V is presented as a simple, uncomplicated SUV, and that kind of straightforward design can be appealing if you want something easy to live with. Honda’s safety and driver-assist package is standard across the range, and the HR-V’s overall expert safety score is solid.

Its 2.0-litre engine and CVT are described as working hard, especially when you need to accelerate onto highways or climb steep grades. The fuel-economy results are also weak for the class, which can make long-term ownership less satisfying if you drive a lot.

Honda does not position this model with standout value extras such as lengthy warranty coverage or free connected service plans. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the same lack of power and efficiency that shows up in testing will continue to shape your day-to-day ownership experience.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Honda HR-V?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX uses cloth seats and has the most basic cabin presentation, while the Sport adds different wheels and more speakers, and the EX-L brings genuine leather, perforated surfaces, Z-pattern stitching, upgraded cabin lighting, and a more upscale interior feel.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with a CVT, and the HR-V is described as underpowered. Front-wheel drive is standard on the LX, while all-wheel drive is standard on the other trims and available on the LX for an extra charge.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centring assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic-jam assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitors and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard, while front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking are exclusive to the EX-L.
• Infotainment: The system uses a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a wireless smartphone charger. The LX has four speakers, the Sport has six, and the EX-L has eight.
• Fuel efficiency: Official ratings are 8.3 L/100 km with front-wheel drive or 8.7 L/100 km with all-wheel drive, and the test result was 9.5 L/100 km.

Which 2026 Honda HR-V trim should I buy?

The 2026 Honda HR-V is offered in 3 trim levels: LX, Sport, and EX-L.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it is also the least equipped. You get the core HR-V formula, standard Honda Sensing, and the lowest starting price, but the cabin is the simplest and the audio system is the most basic.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds standard all-wheel drive, more speakers, and a more distinctive look without pushing you all the way to the top price.
• EX-L: Choose this if you want the most upscale HR-V. It adds leather upholstery, upgraded cabin details, the best audio system, and the parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking.

Honda Sensing is standard on every trim, while front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking are exclusive to the EX-L.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Honda HR-V?

The market looks moderate, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 188 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.87% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $36,158 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2026 Honda HR-V's resale value?

The current average of $36,636 CAD sits slightly below last year's $38,512 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the HR-V is currently more buyer-friendly than it was a year ago. If you own one and plan to sell later, you should expect resale values to depend heavily on condition, trim, and mileage rather than on strong market momentum.

For future sellers, the current trend is a reminder that this model is not appreciating in the used market. If prices continue to ease, you may need to price competitively to attract attention.

Is the 2026 Honda HR-V safe?

The 2026 Honda HR-V earns favourable ratings from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and the 2025 model year also scored a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centring assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic-jam assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. In Canada, blind-spot monitors and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard.

The main caveat is that the adaptive cruise control did not always react smoothly in testing, sometimes braking unexpectedly or responding too slowly in traffic. Front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking are reserved for the EX-L.

Should I buy a 2026 Honda HR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.87% compared with last year.
• The refresh matters to you, especially the larger touchscreen, faster response times, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and wireless smartphone charging.

The bottom line: If you want the newest HR-V with the updated infotainment system and minor styling changes, the 2026 model is the one to target. If you are more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may still make sense, especially if you can find a cleaner example with the equipment you want at a lower asking price.
