New & Used 2026 Acura MDX for Sale nearOttawa, ON

Is the 2026 Acura MDX a good car?

The 2026 Acura MDX earns 7.67/10 from our experts. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

It’s a three-row crossover that leans into sportiness and luxury, with a stylish design, a comfortable cabin, and easy-to-use technology. Acura’s focus is clearly on paved-road comfort and handling rather than off-road ability, which makes sense if you want a refined family SUV with a more engaging look and demeanour.

The main trade-offs are a cramped third row and poor fuel economy, and there’s no hybrid option to help offset that. Even so, it remains a strong value among midsize three-row rivals, and 28.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2026 Acura MDX reliable?

The 2026 Acura MDX is described as reliable, and the expert assessment backs up that impression with a quiet, quality feel and a solid, well-built driving character. It’s also presented as a carryover model with only minor updates for 2026, which usually points to a familiar ownership experience rather than a risky redesign year.

Its 3.5-litre V6, 10-speed automatic, and SH-AWD system are all framed as polished and well-sorted, and the transmission and brakes are called out for behaving well. Acura also positions the MDX as a vehicle with good value and accessible technology, which can make day-to-day ownership feel straightforward.

The main long-term ownership concern for used buyers is that the lack of a hybrid option and the poor fuel economy may keep running costs higher than you’d like.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Acura MDX?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Tech, A-Spec, Platinum Elite A-Spec, and Type S Ultra each bring different levels of style and equipment. The base trim gets standard AWD, but the more expensive versions add features such as the head-up display and surround-view camera system, while the Type S Ultra adds the more powerful engine and other performance upgrades.
• Powertrain: Most models use a 3.5-litre V6 with 290 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic and driving modes including Snow, Comfort, Normal, and Sport. The Type S Ultra switches to a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 with 355 hp and 354 lb-ft, plus adaptive air suspension.
• Safety package: AcuraWatch includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, lane centring assist, and adaptive cruise control with traffic-jam assist. Blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high-beam headlights, and parking sensors with low-speed braking are also standard, while the more expensive variants offer a surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: You get a 12.3-inch digital instrument display and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, with a 10.5-inch head-up display on Platinum Elite A-Spec and Type S Ultra models. Wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, Amazon Alexa Built-in, and Google Built-in are all part of the setup.
• Fuel efficiency: The official Natural Resources Canada estimate is 11.2 litres per 100 kilometres combined, or 12.4 L/100 km for the Type S Ultra.

Which 2026 Acura MDX trim should I buy?

The 2026 Acura MDX is offered in 4 trim levels: Tech, A-Spec, Platinum Elite A-Spec, and Type S Ultra.

Here's the short version:

• Tech: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core MDX experience with standard AWD, the V6 powertrain, AcuraWatch, and the 12.3-inch infotainment and instrument displays. It makes the most sense if you want the MDX’s fundamentals without paying for extras.
• A-Spec: This trim adds a sportier look and feel, and it’s the better choice if you care about styling upgrades more than luxury add-ons. It’s a strong middle-ground pick if you want more visual presence without jumping to the pricier trims.
• Platinum Elite A-Spec: This is the best-value trim if you want the richest mix of comfort, tech, and appearance upgrades. It adds the head-up display and surround-view camera system, and it was the version used for the test drive.
• Type S Ultra: Choose this if you want the most powerful MDX and the most performance-focused setup. It swaps in the twin-turbo V6 and adaptive air suspension, making it the right pick for buyers who want the most capability and the strongest driving character.

The safety package is broad across the range, but the more expensive variants add the surround-view camera system.

Is the 2026 Acura MDX safe?

The 2026 Acura MDX has incomplete crash-test coverage for this model year. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration rates only the FWD models not sold in Canada, which earn an overall five-star rating, and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not published ratings for the 2026 MDX, though the nearly identical 2025 model was an IIHS Top Safety Pick.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

AcuraWatch bundles the MDX’s main driver aids, including forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, lane centring assist, and adaptive cruise control with traffic-jam assist. Blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high-beam headlights, and parking sensors with low-speed braking are also standard, while the more expensive variants offer a surround-view camera system.

One caveat is that the lane departure warning can trigger steering wheel wobble, and lane centring assist can cycle on and off on winding roads, though the system is still described as refined and natural in use.

Should I buy a 2026 Acura MDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 28.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• It keeps the refreshed MDX formula intact, with sporty styling, comfortable road manners, and easy-to-use technology.

Consider the 2025 if:

• It brings a refreshed, more appealing package with a simpler and more intuitive user experience.

The bottom line: If you want the latest version of the MDX’s refined, comfortable, and tech-friendly formula, the 2026 is the straightforward choice. If you’re shopping mainly on value, the 2025 is worth a look because it delivers the refreshed MDX experience and may offer a more attractive used-car proposition.
