Is the 2025 Volvo XC40 a good car?

Yes — 5/5 is a strong user rating for the 2025 Volvo XC40. It stands out by blending distinctive Scandinavian style with the practicality you expect from a luxury subcompact SUV, including a high-end minimalist cabin, impressive rear seat room for its footprint, and a large cargo area with a useful folding floor divider. It also appeals if you want something stylish without giving up everyday usefulness, though its fuel efficiency is described as nothing special and the touch-based interior controls can be fiddly.

With 23.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop carefully and find value.

Is the 2025 Volvo XC40 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Volvo’s safety focus is a major part of the XC40’s appeal, and every model comes standard with the Intellisafe suite of driver assistance and safety features. The 2025 model also benefits from the updates Volvo made in recent years, including the 2023 refresh and the newer Google-based infotainment system.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that some of the XC40’s convenience and interface quirks may become more noticeable over time, so it is worth checking that the controls and infotainment work smoothly on any example you consider.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Volvo XC40?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile opportunities.

• Deal availability: 23.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 94 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.49% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $39,901 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Volvo XC40's resale value?

The current average of $41,033 CAD sits slightly below last year's $48,555 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy more affordably now, but it also means a future seller may need to price competitively if the market stays similar. The XC40’s premium feel, practical cabin, and strong standard safety content should help it remain appealing to used shoppers. If demand holds, that combination can support resale better than a more ordinary small SUV.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2025 Volvo XC40 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 23.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.49% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest version of this XC40 generation with a strong satisfaction signal and a market that has softened, the 2025 is the primary choice to target. If you are more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may offer a lower entry point while still delivering much of the same style, practicality, and premium feel.
