How much does the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan cost?

Prices have softened 13.46% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 865 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan a good car?

The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan earns an expert rating of 6.00/10.

The model scores 6/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

It is a redesigned compact SUV that gets the fundamentals right, with a cabin that should be easier to live with day to day thanks to corrected interface issues. It stands out for its German look and feel, and its comfort-focused tuning makes it appealing if you want a relaxed, polished daily driver.

The trade-offs are that it does not separate itself much from the rest of the field, and limited cargo space is a notable drawback. The expert review also notes that it is not especially sporty, so it suits you best if you value comfort and refinement over excitement.

34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a decent amount of market flexibility.

Is the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan reliable?

The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan is presented as a comprehensive improvement over its predecessor, with a drivetrain that delivers power more smoothly and linearly than before.

The expert review says the Tiguan’s safety and driver-assist features functioned as they should, without false alarms or oversensitivity issues. It also describes the cabin as quiet and the suspension as comfort-oriented, which supports the impression of a well-sorted daily driver.

The cost-effectiveness notes also point to a base model that comes very well equipped, which can help reduce the need for immediate add-ons after purchase.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that it is still a new redesign, so you should pay close attention to how the electronics, driver aids, and cabin hardware have held up.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Trendline gives you the redesigned cabin, standard digital instrument panel, and the core comfort-focused setup, while the Highline R-Line adds more visual impact and extra equipment. The base trim is already well equipped, so you should weigh whether the higher trims add enough for your needs.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 201 horsepower, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and standard 4Motion all-wheel drive. The setup is tuned for smooth, confident everyday driving rather than sporty performance.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, safe passenger exit warnings, parking sensors, automatic high beams, Emergency Assist, and post-collision braking. The Highline R-Line adds a head-up display, surround-view camera system, and traffic sign reader.
• Infotainment: All trims get a 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, a digital instrument panel, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a wireless phone charger. The top trim adds a 15-inch display with native navigation, and VW’s Car-Net system is also offered.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates fuel consumption at 10.5 L/100 km in city driving, 7.8 L/100 km on the highway, and 9.3 L/100 km combined.

Which 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan trim should I buy?

The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan is offered in 4 trim levels: Trendline, Comfortline, Comfortline R-Line, Highline R-Line.

Here's the short version:

• Trendline: This is the best-value choice if you want the redesigned Tiguan’s core strengths without paying for extras you may not need. It already comes very well equipped, including the standard digital instrument panel, 12.9-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, and the full base safety suite.
• Comfortline: This trim makes sense if you want a step up in equipment without jumping all the way to the top model. It should be the trim to consider if you want a more upscale feel while keeping the Tiguan’s comfort-first character.
• Comfortline R-Line: Choose this if you want the sport appearance package and are willing to pay more for styling upgrades rather than a major change in character. It adds visual distinction, but the review suggests higher trims do not dramatically change the Tiguan’s personality.
• Highline R-Line: This is the trim for you if you want the most features, including the larger 15-inch display, native navigation, head-up display, surround-view camera system, traffic sign reader, and illuminated exterior details.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, while the Highline R-Line gets the extra driver-assistance and visibility features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you have room to shop carefully rather than rush.

• Deal availability: 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 865 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.46% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $39,263 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan's resale value?

The current average of $39,263 CAD sits slightly below last year's $45,372 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Tiguan has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means a future seller may face more competition when it is time to trade in or list the vehicle. If you buy at the right price now, you may reduce the risk of taking a bigger depreciation hit later. For resale-minded shoppers, the key is to avoid paying near the top of the current range unless the trim and condition justify it.

Is the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan safe?

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard advanced safety features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, safe passenger exit warnings, parking sensors, automatic high beams, Emergency Assist, and post-collision braking.

Stepping up to the Highline R-Line adds a head-up display, surround-view camera system, and a traffic sign reader.

As of this writing, crash test results are not yet available from either the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Should I buy a 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.46% compared with last year.
• It corrects the last generation’s interface issues while adding a more polished cabin and a quiet, comfort-focused driving experience.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $29,505 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $39,263 CAD average.
• It offers a premium look and strong value focus.

The bottom line: Choose the 2025 if you want the newer design, improved usability, and a more refined daily-driver feel. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2024 is the better value play, especially if you can live with its older-generation compromises.
