Is the 2025 Subaru Crosstrek a good car?

The 2025 Subaru Crosstrek stands out because it sticks closely to a simple, proven formula. Subaru gives it a four-cylinder boxer engine, a continuously variable transmission, and symmetrical all-wheel drive, while its generous ground clearance, protective bodywork, and pedestal-style roof rails make it feel more rugged and useful than many small crossovers.

That combination gives the Crosstrek a practical, budget-friendly character that suits daily driving well. Its strengths are clear: good fuel economy, strong safety credentials, and a lot of utility in a small package. The main trade-offs are equally clear, with base-engine acceleration described as anaemic and the CVT bringing noise and droning, so buyers who value refinement and quick performance may want to look elsewhere.

With 32.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a well-priced example.

Is the 2025 Subaru Crosstrek reliable?

The 2025 Subaru Crosstrek stands out because it sticks closely to a simple, proven formula. Subaru gives it a four-cylinder boxer engine, a continuously variable transmission, and symmetrical all-wheel drive, while its generous ground clearance, protective bodywork, and pedestal-style roof rails make it feel more rugged and useful than many small crossovers.

Its strengths are clear: good fuel economy, strong safety credentials, and a lot of utility in a small package. The straightforward mechanical setup should appeal if you want a familiar, easy-to-understand used vehicle rather than something highly complex.

For used buyers, the long-term ownership risk is more about accepting the CVT and modest base-engine performance than worrying about a complicated design.

What is the 2025 Subaru Crosstrek's resale value?

The current average of $33,483 CAD sits slightly below last year's $34,219 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy with less pressure today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend more on condition, mileage, and trim than on broad market momentum. If you keep the vehicle well maintained, the Crosstrek’s practical reputation should still support demand when it is time to sell.

Should I buy a 2025 Subaru Crosstrek or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.15% compared with last year.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $29,862 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $33,483 CAD average.
• It adds a refreshed design with more engine choice and standard AWD.

The bottom line: Buy the 2025 if you want the current-year Crosstrek and are comfortable paying a premium for it. If your priority is value, the 2024 is the smarter path because it costs less while still delivering the Crosstrek’s core strengths.
