Is the 2025 Subaru Crosstrek a good car?

The 2025 Subaru Crosstrek is a simple, practical small crossover that leans on Subaru’s familiar formula rather than chasing complexity. It is appealing as a budget-friendly daily driver with real utility, especially if you value traction and versatility over flash.

Its standard all-wheel drive, generous ground clearance, protective bodywork, and pedestal-style roof rails give it a distinctly outdoorsy character. The model also adds useful tech and safety equipment on higher trims, including a next-generation 11.6-inch Subaru Starlink touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on most trims, and a next-generation Subaru EyeSight driver assist package.

For shoppers who want a compact utility vehicle that feels well suited to daily use and winter driving, it makes a strong case. 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Subaru Crosstrek reliable?

The 2025 Subaru Crosstrek is built around a straightforward formula: a four-cylinder boxer engine, a continuously variable transmission, and standard symmetrical all-wheel drive. That simplicity is part of its appeal, especially for buyers who want a small utility vehicle that feels easy to live with.

It is also described as a practical crossover with a familiar setup rather than a highly complex one, which supports its reputation as a sensible choice for everyday use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the CVT and base-engine versions may not feel especially refined or quick over time.

If you find a listing below $33,594 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Subaru Crosstrek's resale value?

The current average of $33,594 CAD sits slightly below last year's $34,250 CAD.

That suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently today. For a future seller, it also means resale values may be steadier if the Crosstrek continues to hold its reputation for practicality and all-weather usefulness. If you keep mileage reasonable and the vehicle in good condition, you should be in a better position to protect value when it is time to sell.

Should I buy a 2025 Subaru Crosstrek or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.91% compared with last year.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $30,168 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $33,594 CAD average.
• It offers a refreshed package with standard all-wheel drive and a strong practicality focus.

The bottom line: If you want the newer model year and are comfortable paying more, the 2025 is the cleaner choice. If your priority is value, the 2024 is the better path because it costs less while still delivering the Crosstrek’s core strengths.
