Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE a good car?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE is a strong luxury SUV if you want a premium cabin, broad powertrain choice, and family-friendly versatility, though its size and packaging quirks may not suit everyone. It earns a 3/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating.

The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Its appeal comes from multiple body styles, including a GLE Coupe, plus a stylish interior that feels upscale and special. It also gives you more choice than many rivals, with a lineup that spans efficient, performance-oriented, and plug-in hybrid options.

The trade-offs are clear: the styling is ungainly, it drives bigger than it looks, and outward visibility is poor. Even so, the GLE remains a solid fit for families who value Mercedes-Benz branding and a premium cabin.

32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE reliable?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE is built around a broad, well-developed luxury-SUV formula, with a strong emphasis on refinement and technology. Its powertrains are described as good overall, and the inline-six is singled out for its smoothness.

Mercedes also includes a four-year/80,000-kilometre new-vehicle warranty, which helps support ownership confidence. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a complex luxury SUV can bring higher repair and upkeep exposure as it ages.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GLE’s interior is a major draw, with chunky air vents, mesh speaker grilles for the optional Burmester audio system, and 64-colour ambient lighting. Base versions may not feel as richly equipped as higher trims, so check carefully for the features you want.
• Powertrain: You get a wide spread of options, from a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with mild hybrid assistance to a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six, a plug-in hybrid, and AMG performance models. The inline-six is especially smooth, while the lineup also includes strong efficiency and high-output choices.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring with exit assist, crosswind assist, parking assist, a driver attention monitor, a 360-degree camera system, and Pre-Safe. Adaptive cruise control is part of the optional Driver Assistance Package, which also adds stop-and-go functionality, lane-change assist, evasive steering assist, cross-traffic support for automatic emergency braking, and an expanded driver-monitoring system.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses two 12.3-inch screens, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto plus built-in navigation. The interface offers multiple control methods, but it can be more confusing than helpful, so make sure you’re comfortable with it.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbo-four GLE 350 is rated at 10.8 L/100 km combined, the GLE 450e 4Matic is rated at 10.2 L/100 km combined in hybrid mode, and the AMG GLE 63 S is rated at 15.2 L/100 km combined.

Which 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE is offered in 5 trim levels: GLE 350, GLE 450 4Matic, GLE 450e 4Matic, AMG GLE 53 4Matic+, AMG GLE 63 S 4Matic+.

Here's the short version:

• GLE 350: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core GLE experience with the 2.0-litre turbo-four, mild hybrid assistance, and standard 4Matic all-wheel drive in Canada. It’s the value play if you want the badge, the cabin, and the basics without chasing higher-output power.
• GLE 450 4Matic: This is the best all-round choice if you want the smoothest mainstream powertrain, thanks to the 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six and mild hybrid system. It suits you if you want a more refined drive and stronger performance without stepping into AMG territory.
• GLE 450e 4Matic: Choose this if plug-in hybrid capability matters to you, since it combines electric assist with 80 kilometres of electric range. It’s the right fit if you can charge regularly and want efficiency flexibility.
• AMG GLE 53 4Matic+: This is for you if you want a sharper performance focus, with 429 hp and a 0-100 km/h time of 5.0 seconds. It adds a more serious enthusiast edge without going all the way to the top model.
• AMG GLE 63 S 4Matic+: This is the most extreme version, with a hand-assembled twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8, 603 hp, and a 0-100 km/h time of 3.9 seconds. It’s the pick if you want maximum drama and can live with the major price jump.

The safety package is strong overall, but adaptive cruise control remains part of the optional Driver Assistance Package rather than standard equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE?

The market looks moderately favourable if you’re a selective buyer and willing to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 237 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.42% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $97,426 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE's resale value?

The current average of $97,689 CAD sits slightly below last year's $107,846 CAD.

That price movement suggests the GLE has become more accessible for used buyers than it was a year ago. If you plan to sell later, you should expect a softer resale environment than last year’s market. For you, that means buying carefully matters more, especially if you want to protect value over time.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE safe?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE earns a Top Safety Pick+ from the IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard features include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring with exit assist, crosswind assist, parking assist, a driver attention monitor, a 360-degree camera system, and Pre-Safe. Adaptive cruise control is optional through the Driver Assistance Package, which also adds stop-and-go functionality, lane-change assist, evasive steering assist, cross-traffic support for automatic emergency braking, and an expanded driver-monitoring system that can bring the vehicle to a stop if the driver is unresponsive.

The front-crash prevention tech is a notable caveat, with only marginal and acceptable ratings in standard and optional forms.

Should I buy a 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.42% compared with last year.
• The 2025 stands out for multiple body styles, multiple powertrain options, and a stylish interior.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It adds a standard AMG Line exterior design on the six-cylinder GLE 450.

The bottom line: Choose the 2025 if you want the broader current-market value opportunity and the year’s strong mix of body styles, powertrains, and safety. If you’re price-sensitive, the 2025 is the better shopping target; if you want the newer styling cue on the six-cylinder model, the 2026 is worth a look.
