Why it stands out
The 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe stands out most clearly in Willys ’41 Special Edition form, which commemorates the Willys MB World War II military vehicle. Its look is deliberately distinctive, with exclusive ’41 paint in drab olive green, 17-inch aluminium wheels styled like steelies and finished in the same colour, and a tan soft-top roof. Steel front and rear bumpers and 33-inch all-terrain tyres are standard, while the cabin gets exclusive Heritage Tan cloth seats and an Olive Drab cloth dashboard insert. The result is a Wrangler 4xe that leans hard into its heritage-inspired theme and looks ready to serve.
Beyond the special-edition styling, the 2025 Wrangler 4xe’s appeal comes from its plug-in hybrid powertrain and its easy-to-use technology. It is also described as fun to drive, which helps reinforce its personality-first character. At the same time, it remains noisy, its interior materials feel cheap, and advanced safety features are not standard. That mix makes it easy to understand: this is a vehicle for buyers who value image, ruggedness, and character more than comfort or refinement.

Great Jeep for an incredible price. All because folks are worried about defects. There have been recalls on 4xe’s, but all under warranty, and most are CPO’s—this warranties are extended. You’re getting an almost brand new loaded Rubicon for $33k. That’s crazy.

Generally — you rate the 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe 4/5, and CarGurus experts score it 6.33/10. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Performance.
The 2025 Wrangler 4xe stands out most clearly as a lifestyle-first SUV, especially in Willys ’41 Special Edition form, where the heritage-inspired styling is the main draw. It also brings a plug-in hybrid powertrain and easy-to-use technology, which helps broaden its appeal beyond the visual theme.
The trade-offs are clear: it is noisy, the interior materials feel cheap, and advanced safety features are not standard. That makes it a better fit if you value image, ruggedness, and character more than comfort or refinement.
With 32.5% of listings priced as good or great deals, there is some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe reliable?
Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The 2025 Wrangler 4xe is built around a proven plug-in hybrid setup with a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, two electric motors, and a 17.3-kWh battery pack. CarGurus experts also describe it as fun to drive and easy to live with from a technology standpoint, which supports the idea that the core ownership experience is straightforward if you use it as intended.
Its dependability story is strongest when you keep up with charging and use the powertrain in the way it was designed. Jeep says the battery can be recharged in 12 hours from a standard household outlet, or in 2.5 hours with a Level 2 home charger, which makes regular charging part of the ownership routine.
If you buy used, the main long-term risk is not mechanical complexity alone, but whether the previous owner actually plugged it in often enough to make the 4xe’s efficiency and ownership benefits worthwhile.
What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe?
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Willys ’41 Special Edition adds exclusive ’41 paint, 17-inch aluminium wheels styled like steelies, a tan soft-top roof, steel front and rear bumpers, 33-inch all-terrain tyres, Heritage Tan cloth seats, an Olive Drab cloth dashboard insert, and an exclusive ’41 shifter knob. It is the most distinctive version if you want the heritage look, but the cabin still feels raw and unrefined.
- Powertrain: The plug-in hybrid system pairs a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with two electric motors and a 17.3-kWh battery pack. It offers an estimated 35 km of electric-only range, and Jeep says the combined system produces 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque.
- Safety package: Forward-collision warning and adaptive cruise control are standard on all trim levels. The optional Active Safety Group adds automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors, but Jeep requires the Convenience Group as well.
- Infotainment: Every Wrangler 4xe comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen running Uconnect 5, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Navigation is not offered on the Willys ’41, and a wireless charger is not available.
- Fuel efficiency: Jeep says the Wrangler 4xe averages 11.7 L/100 km in combined driving once the battery is depleted. In testing, it returned 7.6 L/100 km over a short electric-heavy distance and 11.7 L/100 km over a longer loop.
Which 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe trim should I buy?
The 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe is offered in 5 trim levels: Sport S, Willys, Sahara, Rubicon, and Rubicon X.
Here's the short version:
- Sport S: This is the entry point if you want the plug-in hybrid Wrangler experience at the lowest price. It gives you the core 4xe powertrain and standard safety basics, but it is the trim where you are most likely to feel the absence of the extra equipment found higher up.
- Willys: This is the best-value choice if you want the Wrangler 4xe’s personality without stretching too far. It sits in the middle of the lineup and is the trim used for the Willys ’41 Special Edition package, which adds the most distinctive styling and heritage touches.
- Sahara: Choose this if you want a more upscale step up from the middle of the range and are willing to pay more for it.
- Rubicon: This is the better pick if your priorities lean more toward off-road capability than everyday polish.
- Rubicon X: This is the top-end choice if you want the most expensive, most fully equipped version in the lineup.
The safety package note to keep in mind is that blind-spot monitoring sits inside the optional Active Safety Group, and Jeep requires the Convenience Group before it will add that package.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to shop carefully and compare listings before you commit.
- Deal availability: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 123 listings available.
Is the 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe safe?
The 2025 Wrangler 4xe earns a mediocre three-star rating for rollover resistance from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and the NHTSA says it provides no better than three-star protection in frontal impact.
It earns a 3/10 safety score from our experts.
Forward-collision warning and adaptive cruise control are standard on all trim levels. If you want more, the optional Active Safety Group adds automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors, but Jeep requires the Convenience Group before it will add that package.
The main safety shortcoming is that advanced safety features are not standard, and the Wrangler’s safety performance remains a weak point overall. If safety matters most to you, this is not the strongest choice in the segment.
Should I buy a 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
- Choose the 2025 if: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Choose the 2025 if: Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- Choose the 2025 if: It stands out for its Willys ’41 Special Edition styling, plug-in hybrid powertrain, and easy-to-use technology.
The bottom line: If you want the Wrangler 4xe’s distinctive look, plug-in hybrid capability, and personality-first character, the 2025 model is the one to target. If you are more price-sensitive, you should shop the market carefully and compare listings, because the value case depends heavily on how much you plan to use the plug-in system.
