How much does the 2025 Hyundai Sonata cost?

Prices have softened 13.83% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 106 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Sonata a good car?

Generally — the 2025 Hyundai Sonata earns a 4/5 user rating and a 9.00/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

It is aimed at you if you want a midsize sedan that feels secure without giving up comfort, and the available N Line adds a more engaging, sportier personality. The Sonata’s value proposition is especially strong, and its comfortable ride broadens its appeal for family use.

The main trade-offs are its polarizing design and the fuel-economy penalty that comes with the N Line’s extra performance. Limited all-wheel drive availability is another drawback to keep in mind.

With 36.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Sonata reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Sonata is positioned as a value-focused family sedan, and the 2025 update adds improved crash-test performance and new rear-seat air conditioning vents. Its standard five-year, 100,000-kilometre warranty and five years of complimentary roadside assistance with no kilometre limit also support ownership confidence.

The performance side is straightforward for the regular model, while the N Line adds a more demanding turbocharged setup and sport-tuned hardware. For used buyers, the biggest long-term risk is choosing the sportier version if you want lower running costs and a calmer ownership experience.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Hyundai Sonata?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: In Canada, the 2025 Sonata comes in Preferred-Trend and N Line trim levels. The Preferred-Trend is the more value-oriented choice, while the N Line adds a darker, more distinctive interior, red accents, metal pedal covers, and a sportier overall presentation.
• Powertrain: The base model uses a 191-horsepower, 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine, while the N Line uses a turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder with 290 hp and 311 pound-feet of torque. The regular engine is described as unremarkable, while the N Line is much more energetic but sends power only to the front wheels.
• Safety package: Every 2025 Sonata has standard advanced driving assistance systems, including forward collision warning with intersection assist, pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Highway Driving Assist is standard on the N Line.
• Infotainment: All models have a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, voice recognition, and Bluetooth connectivity for two smartphones at once. The N Line adds a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel, navigation, wireless smartphone charging, digital key technology, and an 8-speaker Bose premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The N Line is rated at 8.8 L/100 km combined, but testing returned 12.6 L/100 km. The regular engine is the better fit if you want to avoid the N Line’s fuel-economy penalty.

Which 2025 Hyundai Sonata trim should I buy?

The 2025 Hyundai Sonata is offered in 2 trim levels: Preferred-Trend and N Line.

Here's the short version:

• Preferred-Trend: This is the trim to focus on if you want the Sonata’s core strengths at the lowest entry point. It gives you the standard safety suite, the 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, and the base 191-horsepower engine, making it the best-value choice for most shoppers.
• N Line: Choose this if you want the sportier Sonata. It adds the 290-hp turbocharged engine, the 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, navigation, wireless charging, digital key technology, Bose audio, and Highway Driving Assist. It is the right pick if performance matters more to you than fuel economy.

Every 2025 Sonata includes the standard advanced driving assistance systems, and the N Line adds Highway Driving Assist.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Hyundai Sonata?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 106 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.83% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $31,872 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Hyundai Sonata's resale value?

The current average of $31,945 CAD sits slightly below last year's $37,070 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. For a seller, the current trend suggests you may need to price competitively to move the car quickly. The Sonata’s strong value and safety reputation should still help support demand, especially for well-equipped examples.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Sonata safe?

The 2025 Hyundai Sonata earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS and five-star crash-test ratings in nearly every assessment performed by NHTSA. That includes rollover resistance, and the only evaluation resulting in a four-star rating was the driver’s side protection in a frontal-impact collision.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Every 2025 Sonata has standard advanced driving assistance systems. The highlights include forward collision warning with intersection assist, pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Highway Driving Assist is standard on the N Line, pairing adaptive cruise control with lane-centring assist.

Should I buy a 2025 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.83% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• Expert or safety highlight specific to this year from the improved crash-test ratings and Top Safety Pick+ result.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, safety, and comfort, the 2025 is the better target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can still shop earlier or later examples, but the 2025’s improved safety credentials and softer pricing make it the most compelling version to focus on.
