Why it stands out

The 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid stands out as a practical three-row SUV that blends strong standard equipment with good fuel economy. It is part of the second-generation Santa Fe Hybrid, which debuted as a 2024 model, and this redesign brought boxy, utilitarian styling, a standard third row of seats, and a larger footprint than before. For buyers who want a hybrid SUV that feels more substantial than a compact crossover, that shift is a major part of its appeal.

The 2025 model uses a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with an electric hybrid motor and a six-speed automatic transmission, with 231 horsepower and standard HTRAC all-wheel drive in Canada. It also comes with a long list of standard features on the Preferred Hybrid, including a curved display with a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and digital instrument panel, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, heated front seats, a hands-free power liftgate, and several driver-assistance systems. Fuel consumption is rated at 6.8 litres per 100 kilometres in the city, 6.9 on the highway, and 6.9 combined, which helps explain why it is positioned as the more efficient choice in the line-up.

There are trade-offs, though. The Santa Fe Hybrid is described as slow to 100 km/h, taking just over eight seconds, and its styling is polarising. Even so, it is composed on the road, rides comfortably, and keeps wind and road noise well controlled. For shoppers who value space, standard equipment, and efficiency over outright performance, the 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid makes a compelling case.
