Is the 2025 GMC Canyon a good car?

The 2025 GMC Canyon stands out as a midsize pickup that leans more upscale and more capable than many shoppers might expect from its size. It is offered only as a four-door crew cab with a five-foot bed, and its standard equipment is generous, including a digital instrument panel, a large infotainment touchscreen with Google built in, wireless smartphone integration, an off-road suspension, and driver-assistance features.

It also has a strong standard powertrain and serious off-road hardware available on higher trims, while the Denali trim shifts the focus toward a more luxurious cabin. If you want a smaller truck that still feels premium and capable, the Canyon fits that brief well. 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 GMC Canyon reliable?

The 2025 GMC Canyon is presented as a well-equipped midsize pickup with a strong powertrain and a straightforward Canadian configuration, which can make ownership feel less complicated than with more varied truck lineups. Its standard four-wheel drive and robust hardware also point to a truck built for demanding use.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a more capable, more premium truck can bring higher repair and upkeep exposure if it has been worked hard or used off road.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 GMC Canyon?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 185 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.55% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $54,083 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 GMC Canyon's resale value?

The current average of $54,197 CAD sits slightly below last year's $58,622 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy with less risk of overpaying today. For a future seller, it also suggests the market has already adjusted downward, so resale gains may be harder to count on unless the truck is especially well equipped or lightly used. If you plan to own it for several years, buying near the lower end of the range should help protect your position later.

Should I buy a 2025 GMC Canyon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.55% compared with last year.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $51,274 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $54,197 CAD average.
• It adds a tougher AEV off-road package.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It adds fresh paint and more off-road package flexibility.

The bottom line: The 2025 is the best all-around pick if you want the current-year balance of equipment, capability, and market softness. If your priority is saving money, the 2024 is the better value path, especially if you want a lower entry price and can live with the older model year.
