Used 2025 Ford Explorer for Sale nearMontreal, QC

How much does the 2025 Ford Explorer cost?

Prices have softened 11.50% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 355 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Ford Explorer a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Ford Explorer earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its stylish interior, strong feature content, and competitive value for the money. The expert review also points to its fun-to-drive character, comfortable ride, and easy-to-use technology. On the trade-off side, you give up a hybrid or plug-in hybrid option, and the third row is cramped. In a midsize three-row SUV segment where you want a family hauler that feels more upscale and more engaging, that balance makes sense. With 32.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market also looks reasonably favourable.

Is the 2025 Ford Explorer reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free feel, with drivers describing it as a vehicle they can count on over the long term. The expert review reinforces that impression by noting the Explorer’s improved quality and its more polished, family-friendly character. Ford also includes a strong standard maintenance and ownership package in the broader value proposition. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a three-row SUV with lots of technology can be more expensive to keep up if previous owners skipped regular care.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Ford Explorer?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup is simplified to Active, ST-Line, Platinum, and ST. The base trim gets the core family-size SUV experience, but the higher trims bring a nicer cabin and more advanced equipment. The ST-Line is about appearance rather than performance, while the Platinum and ST move the Explorer upmarket.
• Powertrain: Most versions use a turbocharged 2.3-litre four-cylinder with 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. The ST uses a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 with 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque, and that engine is optional on Platinum.
• Safety package: Ford CoPilot 360 Assist+ is standard on every version, and it includes adaptive cruise control with lane-centring assist plus common driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems. ST-Line and higher add Ford CoPilot 360 2.0 with a surround-view camera system, and BlueCruise is also included starting with ST-Line.
• Infotainment: You get a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a 13.2-inch touchscreen with Ford Digital Experience. Wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, Google Built-in, and Amazon Alexa Built-in are included.
• Fuel efficiency: The base 2.3-litre engine is rated at 11.9 L/100 km in the city, 8.7 on the highway, and 10.4 combined. With the V6, fuel use rises to 13.0 L/100 km city, 9.3 highway, and 11.3 combined in Platinum, and 13.3 city, 9.6 highway, and 11.6 combined in ST.

Which 2025 Ford Explorer trim should I buy?

The 2025 Ford Explorer is offered in 4 trim levels: Active, ST-Line, Platinum, and ST.

Here's the short version:

• Active: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Explorer formula with the standard safety and tech package. It makes the most sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the refreshed model.
• ST-Line: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds a more upscale look, BlueCruise, and the surround-view camera system while staying below the luxury and performance trims.
• Platinum: Choose this if you want the most premium-feeling cabin and the option to pair it with the stronger twin-turbo V6.
• ST: Pick this if you want the most performance-focused Explorer, with the twin-turbo V6 and the sport-tuned hardware that goes with it.

Ford CoPilot 360 Assist+ is standard across the lineup, while BlueCruise and Ford CoPilot 360 2.0 start with ST-Line.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Ford Explorer?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 355 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.50% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $51,705 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $51,709 CAD sits slightly below last year's $58,431 CAD.

That softer pricing means future sellers may not see the same strength they would have a year ago, especially if the market stays well supplied. Still, the Explorer’s refreshed tech, improved cabin, and broad appeal in the three-row SUV segment should help it remain relevant with used buyers. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Ford Explorer safe?

The 2025 Explorer earns five-star side-impact ratings and four-star rollover resistance ratings from NHTSA. It also performs well in IIHS crash testing, though the headlights on Active, ST-Line, and ST trims are rated Marginal, while the Platinum’s headlights are rated Good.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford CoPilot 360 Assist+ is standard on every version, and it includes adaptive cruise control with lane-centring assist plus common driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems. ST-Line and higher add Ford CoPilot 360 2.0 with a surround-view camera system, and BlueCruise is standard from ST-Line onward with a 90-day subscription included. The main caveat is that the lower-trim headlight ratings are weaker than the rest of the safety package.

Should I buy a 2025 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.50% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Expert or safety highlight specific to this year from the refreshed infotainment, improved cabin, and added safety tech.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It adds the return of the Tremor off-road model and an updated BlueCruise system.

The bottom line: The 2025 is the better pick if you want the refreshed cabin, strong tech, and softer used pricing right now. If you’re willing to wait and want the newer off-road-focused option, the 2026 is the one to watch.

2025 Ford Explorer:

• Cons: No hybrid or plug-in hybrid option, No off-road trim level, Cramped third-row.

2025 Chevrolet Traverse:

Our experts score the 2025 Ford Explorer 8/10 and the 2025 Chevrolet Traverse 7.2/10. The Explorer is the better choice if you care more about driving enjoyment, comfort, and straightforward tech. The Traverse counters with more cargo space and a stylish design, but its weaker value and less polished cabin materials make it harder to recommend as broadly.
