Used 2025 Ford Explorer for Sale nearMerritt, BC

How much does the 2025 Ford Explorer cost?

Prices have softened 12.04% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 345 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Ford Explorer a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Ford Explorer earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its powerful engine, stylish interior, and the strong feature set you get for the price. The Explorer also stands out for being fun to drive, comfortable, and easy to use, which fits well if you want a family-friendly three-row SUV that feels more polished than before.

The main trade-offs are the lack of a hybrid or plug-in hybrid option and the cramped third row. Even so, the refreshed lineup and improved cabin quality make it a compelling choice if you want a midsize SUV that balances everyday usability with a more upscale feel.

With 31.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still enough market activity to find a competitive example.

Is the 2025 Ford Explorer reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe it as dependable and appreciate the strong feature content for the money. The Explorer’s updated powertrains and improved cabin presentation also support the sense that it is built to be a vehicle you can count on over time.

Ford’s performance tuning and the SUV’s broad set of standard equipment point to a well-rounded ownership experience, though the lack of an electrified option may matter if you are trying to minimise long-term fuel use. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about choosing the right trim and equipment for your needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Ford Explorer?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup is simplified, with Active, ST-Line, Platinum, and ST. The base trim gets the improved interior and core technology, while higher trims add more upscale materials, stronger audio, and more advanced camera and driving-assist equipment.
• Powertrain: The standard setup is a turbocharged 2.3-litre four-cylinder with 300 horsepower, while the ST uses a twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 with 400 hp. All Canadian models use a 10-speed automatic and all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Every version gets Ford CoPilot 360 Assist+, which includes adaptive cruise control with lane-centring assist and common collision-avoidance systems. ST-Line and higher add Ford CoPilot 360 2.0 with a surround-view camera system, and BlueCruise is standard from ST-Line upward.
• Infotainment: You get a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a 13.2-inch touchscreen with Ford Digital Experience, plus wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, Google Built-in, Amazon Alexa Built-in, and available 5G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot support.
• Fuel efficiency: The base 2.3-litre engine is rated at 11.9 L/100 km city, 8.7 highway, and 10.4 combined. The V6 in Platinum is rated at 13.0 L/100 km city, 9.3 highway, and 11.3 combined, while the ST is rated at 13.3 city, 9.6 highway, and 11.6 combined.

Which 2025 Ford Explorer trim should I buy?

The 2025 Ford Explorer is offered in 4 trim levels: Active, ST-Line, Platinum, and ST.

Here's the short version:

• Active: This is the value-focused starting point, and it already benefits from the refreshed cabin, the new infotainment system, and the standard safety suite. It makes the most sense if you want the updated Explorer experience without paying for extras you may not need.
• ST-Line: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a sportier look, BlueCruise, and the surround-view camera system while staying below the luxury and performance trims. If you want the broadest mix of equipment and price, this is the one to target.
• Platinum: Choose this if you want the more upscale feel and the available twin-turbo V6. It suits you best if comfort, refinement, and stronger acceleration matter more than keeping the budget in check.
• ST: This is the performance-oriented choice, with the twin-turbo V6 and sport-tuned hardware. It is the right pick if you want the most powerful and engaging Explorer in the lineup.

BlueCruise starts with ST-Line trim and higher, while the surround-view camera system also begins at ST-Line.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Ford Explorer?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 345 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.04% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $51,705 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $51,705 CAD sits slightly below last year's $58,785 CAD.

That softer pricing can be good news if you are buying now, but it also means future sellers may face more competition if the market stays well supplied. A lower current average can help support demand from value-focused shoppers, especially if the vehicle is well equipped and priced near the lower end of the range.

If you plan to sell later, the strongest examples will likely be the ones with desirable trims, clean history, and the features shoppers are actively looking for. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Ford Explorer safe?

The 2025 Explorer earns five-star side-impact and four-star rollover resistance ratings from NHTSA. According to IIHS, it performs well on crash tests, though the headlights on Active, ST-Line, and ST trims are rated Marginal, while the Platinum’s headlights are rated Good.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Every version comes with Ford CoPilot 360 Assist+, which includes adaptive cruise control with lane-centring assist and common collision-avoidance systems. ST-Line and higher add Ford CoPilot 360 2.0 with a surround-view camera system, and BlueCruise is standard from ST-Line upward with a 90-day subscription included.

The main safety caveat is the headlight performance gap on lower trims, so if night driving matters a lot to you, that is worth paying attention to when you shop.

Should I buy a 2025 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.04% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Expert or safety highlight specific to this year from the refreshed infotainment, improved interior quality, and updated safety tech.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It adds a Tremor off-road model and updates BlueCruise.

The bottom line: If you want the better value right now, the 2025 is the smarter buy because pricing has eased and inventory is available. If you specifically want the newest off-road-focused option, it makes sense to wait for the 2026.
