Used 2025 Ford Explorer for Sale nearMedicine Hat, AB

How much does the 2025 Ford Explorer cost?

Prices have softened 12.85% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 350 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Ford Explorer a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Ford Explorer earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its powerful V6 engine, stylish interior, and the strong feature set you get for the price. It also comes across as fun to drive, comfortable, and easy to use, which fits well if you want a family SUV that feels more polished than before.

The main trade-offs are the lack of ventilated seats in owner feedback, plus the expert notes that there’s no hybrid or plug-in hybrid option and the third row is cramped. Even so, the 2025 refresh makes it a more appealing choice if you want a midsize three-row SUV with a more upscale feel and broad everyday usefulness.

With 34.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s still enough market activity to find a competitive example.

Is the 2025 Ford Explorer reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers highlighting the Explorer as a vehicle they can count on. The expert assessment also supports that impression by describing it as a practical, family-friendly SUV that has been improved for 2025.

Ford’s refreshed model-year updates also help it feel more sorted and easier to live with, and the simplified lineup should make shopping less complicated. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright reliability and more about choosing the right trim and avoiding a configuration that leaves you wanting more comfort or efficiency.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Ford Explorer?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup is simplified to Active, ST-Line, Platinum, and ST. The base Active is the starting point, while ST-Line adds a sportier look, Platinum brings the more luxurious feel, and ST is the performance-focused choice. The base trim is the one most likely to leave you wanting more equipment, while ST-Line is the best-value pick if you want a nicer appearance without jumping all the way to the top.
• Powertrain: Most trims use a turbocharged 2.3-litre four-cylinder with 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. Platinum can be optioned with a twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6, and the ST gets that V6 standard with 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. All versions use a 10-speed automatic and all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Every version gets Ford CoPilot 360 Assist+, which includes adaptive cruise control with lane-centring assist and other common driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems. ST-Line and higher add Ford CoPilot 360 2.0 with a surround-view camera system, and BlueCruise is standard from ST-Line upward.
• Infotainment: You get a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a 13.2-inch touchscreen with Ford Digital Experience. Wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, Google Built-in, Amazon Alexa Built-in, SiriusXM 360L, and app support are included.
• Fuel efficiency: The base 2.3-litre engine is rated at 11.9 L/100 km city, 8.7 highway, and 10.4 combined. With the V6 in Platinum, expect 13.0 city, 9.3 highway, and 11.3 combined. The ST returns 13.3 city, 9.6 highway, and 11.6 combined.

Which 2025 Ford Explorer trim should I buy?

The 2025 Ford Explorer is offered in 4 trim levels: Active, ST-Line, Platinum, and ST.

Here's the short version:

• Active: This is the entry point and the most straightforward way into the refreshed Explorer. It gives you the new cabin and tech, but it’s the trim most likely to feel basic if you want a more premium or feature-rich SUV.
• ST-Line: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a sportier appearance, the surround-view camera system, and BlueCruise. If you want the strongest mix of style and equipment without paying for the V6 luxury or performance trims, this is the one to focus on.
• Platinum: Choose this if you want the more upscale feel and the option of the twin-turbo V6. It suits you best if comfort and a richer cabin matter more than outright sportiness.
• ST: This is the performance trim, with the twin-turbo V6 standard plus sport-tuned hardware. It’s the right pick if you want the quickest and most engaging Explorer.

BlueCruise starts at ST-Line trim and higher, so lower trims miss out on that hands-free highway driving system.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Ford Explorer?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 34.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 350 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.85% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $52,425 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $52,425 CAD sits slightly below last year's $60,155 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can be good news if you’re buying now but less favourable if you’re planning to sell soon. A softer market usually means future sellers may need to price more aggressively to stand out, especially if inventory remains healthy.

The Explorer’s refreshed styling, improved cabin, and stronger technology package should help it hold attention better than before. Still, resale will depend on trim choice and condition, and the trims with the strongest equipment mix are likely to be easier to move later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Ford Explorer safe?

The 2025 Explorer earns five-star side-impact and four-star rollover resistance ratings from NHTSA. According to IIHS, it performs well on crash tests, though the headlights on Active, ST-Line, and ST trims are rated Marginal, while the Platinum’s headlights are rated Good.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Every version includes Ford CoPilot 360 Assist+, which brings adaptive cruise control with lane-centring assist along with common driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems. ST-Line and higher add Ford CoPilot 360 2.0 with a surround-view camera system, and BlueCruise is standard from ST-Line upward with a 90-day subscription included.

The main safety caveat is the headlight performance gap on most trims, so if nighttime visibility matters to you, the Platinum has the advantage there.

Should I buy a 2025 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 34.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.85% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Ford’s 2025 refresh brings better tech, improved interior quality, and a simplified trim lineup.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It adds a Tremor model that replaces the Timberline as the most off-road-capable Explorer.

The bottom line: If you want the better-value buy right now, the 2025 is the smarter path because it combines a softer price trend with strong owner satisfaction and meaningful updates. If you specifically want an off-road-focused Explorer, the 2026 is the one to watch.
