Why it stands out

The 2025 Chevrolet Malibu stands out as the final chapter for Chevrolet’s long-running front-drive sedan. By the time this generation arrived, it had already become a more sophisticated car than the Malibu it replaced, with sleek styling that anticipated the fastback sedan trend and a longer wheelbase and overall length that gave the back seat a more open feel. It was also offered with a broad range of trims and powertrains over its run, including a hybrid, which helped give the Malibu a wider appeal than a basic commuter car.

For buyers, the Malibu’s biggest strengths are value and everyday usability. It offers plenty of room, and the current-generation cabin is described as having intuitive infotainment. The 2025 model also benefits from the Malibu’s strongest reliability reputation among front-wheel drive versions, which makes it easier to recommend than older generations. At the same time, it is not as refined as some rivals, and its safety equipment was not always standard earlier in the generation, so it remains a car best judged as a practical, reasonably priced used sedan rather than a class leader in every area.

What makes the Malibu especially distinctive is how much it improved over time without ever losing its mainstream mission. Later versions gained wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and Chevrolet eventually made some active safety features standard. Even so, the Malibu still has a reputation for being a bit less polished than competitors, and some versions are dull to drive. That balance of strong value, generous space, and mixed refinement is exactly what defines the 2025 Chevrolet Malibu.
