Is the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV a good car?

The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV earns an 6.5/10 expert rating.

The model scores 8/10 across Cost effectiveness and Safety.

It is aimed at you if you want an electric SUV that prioritises affordability, comfort, and range over flash. The value case is strong, and the available 500-kilometres-plus driving range makes it especially appealing for everyday use and longer trips.

The trade-offs are clear: it does not deliver typical EV performance, and it lacks Apple CarPlay. Even so, the comfortable ride and generous cargo space help it stay practical.

With 26.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some room to shop carefully.

The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV is presented as a straightforward, comfort-focused EV with a quiet cabin and a smooth ride, which supports an easy ownership experience.

Its electric powertrain is described as dependable and unintrusive in day-to-day use, and the standard safety features are the kind you would expect in a modern vehicle. The available driver-assistance systems also add reassurance for regular commuting and highway driving.

If you are considering used ownership, the main long-term risk is less about mechanical complexity and more about whether the vehicle’s feature set matches your expectations over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LT gives you the economical entry point, and it does not feel stripped out. The RS adds larger wheels, blacked-out styling elements, red interior accents, and a few added convenience and safety packages.
• Powertrain: The standard setup uses a single 220-horsepower electric motor with front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive adds a second motor for 300 hp, and the AWD version is quicker.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, a blind-spot monitor with steering intervention, automatic high beams, and GM’s safety alert seat. In Canada, Active Safety Package 2 is standard and adds a surround-view camera system with rear pedestrian alerts and automatic braking, side bicyclist alert, traffic sign recognition, lane departure warning, and intersection braking.
• Infotainment: You get a 17.7-inch touchscreen with Google Built-in. Wireless charging is available, but Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not offered.
• Range & charging: The front-drive version is estimated at up to 513 km of range. The battery pack is 85 kWh. DC fast charging tops out at 150 kW, and the vehicle can replenish roughly 110 km of range in about 10 minutes.
• Battery health: When shopping used, check battery state-of-health, confirm how the vehicle has been charged, and look for a history that favours regular home charging over repeated DC fast charging. Also verify how much of the battery warranty remains.

Which 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV trim should I buy?

The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV is offered in 2 trim levels: LT and RS.

Here's the short version:

• LT: This is the best-value choice. It gives you the core Equinox EV experience without making you pay extra for the RS’s styling upgrades, and it still feels well equipped.
• RS: Choose this if you want the sportier look, larger wheels, red interior accents, and the added convenience and safety content that come with it.

The standard safety package is strong, and Active Safety Package 2 is standard in Canada.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 26.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 136 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 21.05% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $39,974 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV's resale value?

The current average of $39,974 CAD sits slightly below last year's $50,629 CAD.

That drop suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, which can also affect future resale expectations. If you buy at today’s lower average, you may have less depreciation pressure than someone who bought when prices were higher.

For a future seller, the key question is whether the market stabilises or continues to soften. A well-priced example with the right trim and equipment should still be easier to move than one priced above the current average.

Is the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV safe?

The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV earns five-star ratings in its overall rating, frontal and side impacts, and rollover protection from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

All models come with frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, a blind-spot monitor with steering intervention, automatic high beams, and GM’s safety alert seat. In Canada, Active Safety Package 2 is standard and adds a surround-view camera system with rear pedestrian alerts and automatic braking, side bicyclist alert, traffic sign recognition, lane departure warning, and intersection braking.

Should I buy a 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 26.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 21.05% compared with last year.
• It delivers a strong value-and-range combination that makes EV ownership more accessible.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $36,901 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $39,974 CAD average.
• It offers a purpose-built EV platform with a comfortable character.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market value story, the 2025 is the better starting point. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2024 is worth a look, especially if you find a well-equipped example.
