Is the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV a good car?

The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV earns an 6.5/10 expert rating.

The model scores 8/10 across Cost effectiveness and Safety.

It is aimed at you if you want an electric SUV that prioritises affordability, comfort, and range over flash. The value-first approach is a major strength, and the available 500-kilometre-plus driving range makes it practical for daily use and longer trips.

The main trade-offs are clear: it does not deliver the performance or extra flair of some rivals, and it lacks typical EV performance. It also does not offer Apple CarPlay.

There are 27.2% of listings priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV reliable?

The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV is built around a straightforward EV formula, with a single-motor front-wheel-drive setup in standard form and an available dual-motor all-wheel-drive version. Its range figures are strong, and the ride is described as smooth and comfortable, which supports low-stress day-to-day ownership.

The performance notes also point to a well-rounded driving experience rather than a complicated one, with smooth braking, one-pedal driving, and regenerative braking settings that are easy to live with. The infotainment and safety systems are also presented as generally dependable, with only a few isolated false alarms from the frontal collision warning system in the base model.

If you buy used, the biggest long-term ownership risk is less about mechanical complexity and more about whether the missing smartphone integration and EV-specific features fit your habits.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The entry-level LT is the economical choice, and it does not feel stripped out. The RS adds larger wheels, blacked-out styling elements, red interior accents, and a few added convenience and safety packages.
• Powertrain: The standard setup uses a single 220-horsepower electric motor with front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive adds a second motor for 300 hp, and the AWD version is quicker.
• Safety package: All models include frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, a blind-spot monitor with steering intervention, automatic high beams, and GM’s safety alert seat. In Canada, Active Safety Package 2 is standard and adds a surround-view camera system with rear pedestrian alerts and automatic braking, side bicyclist alert, traffic sign recognition, lane departure warning, and intersection braking. Active Safety Package 3 adds a semi-automated parking system and Super Cruise.
• Infotainment: You get a 17.7-inch touchscreen with Google Built-in, quick responses, and wireless charging availability. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not offered.
• Range & charging: The front-drive version is estimated at up to 513 kilometres of range on a single charge. The battery pack is 85 kWh. DC fast charging tops out at 150 kW.
• Battery health: On a used EV, you should check battery state-of-health, confirm how the car was typically charged, and review the remaining battery warranty coverage. A vehicle that spent most of its life on home charging may be preferable to one that relied heavily on DC fast charging.

Which 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV trim should I buy?

• It focuses on price and range, making it a strong value-oriented EV choice.
