Is the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV reliable?

The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV’s expert assessment points to a well-rounded EV that focuses on everyday usability rather than flash. Its performance notes highlight smooth braking, confident road manners, and a cabin that stays quieter than a gas-powered SUV, though highway boominess can still show up on longer drives.

The dependability language in the expert write-up is reassuring: the standard features are described as dependable and unintrusive, with only a few isolated false alarms from the frontal collision warning system in testing.

If you’re buying used, the main long-term ownership risk is less about mechanical complexity and more about whether the vehicle’s software, charging habits, and battery condition have been well maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LT gives you the essentials without feeling stripped out, while the RS adds larger wheels, blacked-out styling elements, red interior accents, and extra convenience and safety equipment.
• Powertrain: You get a single 220-horsepower electric motor with front-wheel drive, while all-wheel drive adds a second motor and raises output to 300 hp.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, a blind-spot monitor with steering intervention, automatic high beams, and GM’s safety alert seat. In Canada, Active Safety Package 2 is standard and adds a surround-view camera system, rear pedestrian alerts and automatic braking, side bicyclist alert, traffic sign recognition, lane departure warning, and intersection braking. Active Safety Package 3 adds semi-automated parking and Super Cruise.
• Infotainment: The system uses a 17.7-inch touchscreen with Google Built-in, quick responses, and wireless charging pad availability, but it does not offer Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
• Range & charging: The front-drive version is estimated at up to 513 kilometres of range, while AWD drops that estimate to 494 kilometres with the standard charger or 463 kilometres with the heavier charger. DC fast charging peaks at 150 kW.
• Battery health: For a used EV, you should check battery state-of-health, confirm how the vehicle has typically been charged at home versus on DC fast chargers, and review how much of the battery warranty remains.

Choose the 2025 if:

• Price trend: Prices have softened 20.61% compared with last year.
• It combines strong value with generous range and a standout Super Cruise-equipped safety story.

• It offers the same basic EV appeal in a comfortable package.

The bottom line: Choose the 2025 if you want the stronger current-market value story and the latest used inventory to compare. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2024 is the better price-sensitive path.
