Is the 2025 Chevrolet Colorado a good car?

The 2025 Chevrolet Colorado earns an 7.83/10 expert rating.

The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

It is aimed at nearly any type of buyer, with a special emphasis on off-pavement performance, while still being a right-sized truck that should fit in a garage and be easier to park in town. The Colorado also brings stylish design and easy-to-use technology, which helps it work as an everyday pickup as well as a recreation-focused one.

The trade-offs are clear: it can bring sticker shock, its fuel economy is poor, and its value for money is questionable.

With 36.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Chevrolet Colorado reliable?

The 2025 Chevrolet Colorado is presented as a straightforward midsize truck with one standard turbocharged engine and a simple trim structure, which can help keep ownership predictable. Its standard powertrain is described as strong and well matched to the truck, with quick, smooth shifts from the transmission.

The Colorado’s performance content also points to a capable setup for hard use, including strong towing and payload figures, plus off-road hardware on the more rugged trims. Chevrolet’s standard maintenance coverage language is not included here, but the truck’s mechanical simplicity should help reduce complexity for used buyers.

For long-term ownership, your biggest risk is less about outright mechanical drama and more about living with high fuel use and the costs that can come with a more capability-focused truck.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Chevrolet Colorado?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: WT is the most basic-looking version, while LT adds body-colour door handles and mirrors plus nicer wheels. Trail Boss adds a factory suspension lift and off-road styling, Z71 adds more polished exterior details, and ZR2 brings the most aggressive hardware and appearance.
• Powertrain: Every Colorado uses a 2.7-litre TurboMax four-cylinder with 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic. Four-wheel drive is optional on WT and standard in Canada on LT, Trail Boss, Z71 and ZR2.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist is standard and includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, a following distance indicator and automatic high beams. Blind-zone steering assist, reverse automatic emergency braking and rear park assist are also standard, while rear pedestrian alert, trailering support for blind-zone steering assist and a 360-degree camera system are optional.
• Infotainment: You get an 11.3-inch touchscreen, Google built-in software, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus voice recognition.
• Fuel efficiency: Estimated fuel consumption is 13.6 L/100 km city, 11.0 highway and 12.4 combined with 4WD. The ZR2 rises to 14.1 city, 13.8 highway and 14.0 combined, while the ZR2 Bison reaches 14.8 city, 15.1 highway and 14.9 combined.

Which 2025 Chevrolet Colorado trim should I buy?

The 2025 Chevrolet Colorado is offered in 5 trim levels: WT, LT, Trail Boss, Z71, ZR2.

Here's the short version:

• WT: This is the most affordable entry point, but it is the most work-truck-like in appearance and equipment. It makes sense if you want the Colorado’s core capability and plan to keep costs down.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more polished look and standard 4WD in Canada, while staying below the more expensive adventure-focused trims.
• Trail Boss: This is the one to choose if you want a factory lift and a more off-road-ready setup without jumping all the way to the top end.
• Z71: This trim adds a more upscale feel and keeps the off-road capability theme going, making it a strong middle-ground choice if you want comfort and capability together.
• ZR2: This is the most serious off-road model, with the most aggressive hardware and the highest price. It suits you best if trail performance matters more than everyday value.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard across the lineup, and Teen Driver technology is standard on all Colorado models.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Chevrolet Colorado?

The market looks moderate and selective, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 191 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.26% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $52,676 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Chevrolet Colorado's resale value?

The current average of $52,676 CAD sits slightly below last year's $59,359 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Colorado is currently more buyer-friendly than it was a year ago. If you buy now, you may be entering at a lower point in the cycle than recent shoppers did.

For a future seller, that means resale conditions may be less favourable than they were last year, especially if the market stays soft. A well-kept truck with desirable equipment should still hold appeal, but you should not expect a strong price rebound in the near term.

Is the 2025 Chevrolet Colorado safe?

The 2025 Chevrolet Colorado earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star frontal crash-test and three-star rollover ratings, and five-star side-impact ratings.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Should I buy a 2025 Chevrolet Colorado or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.26% compared with last year.
• It blends strong standard power with easy-to-use tech and broad buyer appeal.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $47,645 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $52,676 CAD average.
• It feels more focused on recreation and lifestyle use than basic work-truck duty.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It stays simple with one powertrain, five trims and mostly unchanged hardware.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of current pricing, capability and everyday usability, the 2025 is the primary path to consider. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2024 is the better value play, while the 2026 makes sense if you prefer the latest version of the same formula.
