Is the 2025 Chevrolet Colorado a good car?

The 2025 Chevrolet Colorado earns an 7.8/10 expert rating.

The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

It is aimed at nearly any type of buyer, with a special emphasis on off-pavement performance, while still being sized to fit in a garage and easier to park in town. The Colorado also brings stylish design and easy-to-use technology to the table.

Trade-offs include a poor fuel economy and questionable value for money, and the lineup also lacks a long-bed option.

With 37.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Chevrolet Colorado reliable?

The 2025 Chevrolet Colorado is presented as a strong entry in the midsize truck segment, with a standard turbocharged engine and a straightforward lineup that should make shopping simpler for you.

Its performance hardware is a major part of the appeal: the standard 2.7-litre TurboMax engine delivers strong output, the transmission is described as quick and smooth, and the off-road-focused versions add serious capability. The expert notes also point to durable off-road equipment such as skid plates, locking differentials, and robust suspension hardware on the more capable trims.

The Colorado’s standard equipment and easy-to-use technology add to its everyday usability, and the truck’s packaging is aimed at buyers who want a right-sized pickup without moving up to something larger.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the truck’s higher-spec off-road hardware and premium positioning can make repairs and upkeep more expensive if you buy a heavily equipped example.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Chevrolet Colorado?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: WT is the most basic work-truck version, while LT adds body-colour door handles and mirrors plus nicer wheels. Trail Boss adds a factory suspension lift and off-road styling, Z71 brings a fancier grille and additional body-colour elements, and ZR2 stands out with unique wheels, a distinctive hood, and more aggressive off-road hardware.
• Powertrain: Every Colorado uses a 2.7-litre TurboMax four-cylinder with 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic. Four-wheel drive is optional on WT but standard in Canada on LT, Trail Boss, Z71 and ZR2.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist is standard and includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, a following distance indicator and automatic high beams. Blind-zone steering assist, reverse automatic emergency braking and rear park assist are also standard, while rear pedestrian alert, trailering support for blind-zone steering assist and a 360-degree camera system are optional.
• Infotainment: Every Colorado gets an 11.3-inch touchscreen, Google built-in software, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus voice recognition.
• Fuel efficiency: Estimated fuel consumption is 13.6 L/100 km city, 11.0 highway and 12.4 combined with 4WD. The ZR2 rises to 14.1 L/100 km city, 13.8 highway and 14.0 combined, while the ZR2 Bison is rated at 14.8 L/100 km city, 15.1 highway and 14.9 combined.

Which 2025 Chevrolet Colorado trim should I buy?

The 2025 Chevrolet Colorado is offered in 5 trim levels: WT, LT, Trail Boss, Z71, ZR2.

Here's the short version:

• WT: This is the entry point and suits you if you want the Colorado’s core capability and standard tech without paying for extra appearance or off-road equipment.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more polished look and standard 4WD in Canada while keeping the Colorado’s easy-to-use tech.
• Trail Boss: Choose this if you want a factory lift and a more off-road-focused setup without jumping all the way to the top-end trims.
• Z71: This is the more upscale off-road-leaning choice, with a fancier grille, extra body-colour elements and standard 4WD in Canada.
• ZR2: Pick this if off-road performance is your priority; it brings the most serious hardware and the most distinctive look in the lineup.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard across the lineup, and Teen Driver technology is standard on all Colorado models.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Chevrolet Colorado?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 37.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 191 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.94% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $51,414 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Chevrolet Colorado's resale value?

The current average of $51,414 CAD sits slightly below last year's $58,388 CAD.

That price drop suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers than it was a year ago. If you buy now, you may be entering at a softer point in the cycle than previous owners did.

For a future seller, that means resale value could remain under pressure if pricing stays soft. A well-kept truck with desirable equipment should still hold up better than a basic example, but the current trend is not especially supportive of strong short-term appreciation.

Is the 2025 Chevrolet Colorado safe?

The 2025 Chevrolet Colorado earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star frontal crash and three-star rollover ratings, and five-star side-impact ratings.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard, and it includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, a following distance indicator and automatic high beams. Blind-zone steering assist, reverse automatic emergency braking and rear park assist are also standard.

Chevy’s Teen Driver technology is standard across all Colorado models, letting parents set speed and audio limits for other drivers based on the key being used.

Should I buy a 2025 Chevrolet Colorado or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 37.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.94% compared with last year.
• It blends strong off-road ability with easy-to-use tech and a right-sized footprint.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $47,788 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $51,414 CAD average.
• It focuses more on recreation and lifestyle use than basic work-truck duty.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It keeps the Colorado simple with one powertrain, five trims and mostly unchanged equipment.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of capability, tech and current-market availability, the 2025 is the better all-around pick. If price is your top priority, the 2024 is the cheaper route, while the 2026 makes sense if you prefer the latest version with minimal changes.
