How much does the 2025 BMW X5 cost?

Is the 2025 BMW X5 a good car?

The 2025 BMW X5 earns an 8.3/10 expert rating.

The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Technology, and Safety.

It remains a core midsize luxury SUV with multiple powertrain options, strong handling, and a comfortable ride, which helps explain its staying power in a crowded class. The main trade-offs are weaker value compared with rivals and the fact that advanced safety features are not standard.

Good and great deals percentage: 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 BMW X5 reliable?

The 2025 BMW X5 is presented as a well-rounded luxury SUV that meets expectations for interior space, driving dynamics, and technology. Its powertrain lineup is broad, and the six-cylinder models are rated at 9.4 litres per 100 kilometres combined, which gives you a useful benchmark for everyday running costs.

BMW’s four-year/80,000-kilometre new-vehicle warranty is comparable to most rivals, which helps support ownership confidence. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the X5’s premium positioning can mean higher ownership costs if maintenance or repairs are needed outside warranty.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 BMW X5?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Base models come standard with 20-inch wheels and run-flat all-season tyres, while M Sport and M Sport Pro add sportier styling details, an illuminated grille, Shadowline headlights, and other appearance upgrades.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six, a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8, or a plug-in hybrid setup with a larger battery pack and up to 63 kilometres of electric range.
• Safety package: The standard driver-aid suite includes lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, and forward collision warning, but not adaptive cruise control. That requires the Advanced Driver Assistance Package, which adds Highway Assistant.
• Infotainment: You get a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, BMW Operating System 8, and available augmented reality navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: Six-cylinder models are rated at 9.4 litres per 100 kilometres combined, while the V8 model is rated at 12.3 L/100 km combined.

Which 2025 BMW X5 trim should I buy?

The 2025 BMW X5 is offered in 4 trim levels: xDrive40i, xDrive50e, M60i xDrive, X5 M Competition.

Here's the short version:

• xDrive40i: This is the best-value starting point if you want the core X5 experience, including the turbocharged inline-six, standard all-wheel drive, and the model’s strong balance of comfort and handling.
• xDrive50e: Choose this if you want the plug-in hybrid setup, the strongest efficiency story, and standard air suspension; it suits you best if electric-only driving matters.
• M60i xDrive: This is the pick for more performance, with the twin-turbo V8 and the quickest mainstream X5 character, but it comes with higher fuel use and a much higher price.
• X5 M Competition: This is the full performance model for buyers who want maximum speed and the most aggressive hardware, but it sits far above the rest of the range.

The standard safety package does not include adaptive cruise control, so you’ll want to check package content carefully if that matters to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 BMW X5?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 144 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.40% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $82,611 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 BMW X5's resale value?

The current average of $85,355 CAD sits slightly below last year's $97,438 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy more confidently today, but it also means the market has already adjusted downward from where it was a year ago. If you plan to sell later, you should expect resale values to depend heavily on trim, condition, and equipment, especially because the X5 spans a wide price range. The current trend suggests that well-equipped examples may still hold appeal, but you should not count on a quick rebound.

Is the 2025 BMW X5 safe?

The 2025 BMW X5 earns a Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and a four-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal and rollover crash tests, and five-star ratings in side crash tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard driver-assistance suite includes lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, and forward collision warning. Adaptive cruise control is not standard, and you need the Advanced Driver Assistance Package to get Highway Assistant. Parking Assistant is standard, while Parking Assistant Professional adds a 360-degree camera, Active Park Distance Control, and automated parking features.

Should I buy a 2025 BMW X5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.40% compared with last year.
• It keeps the updated 2024-era design and tech with no major changes.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $72,180 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $85,355 CAD average.
• It blends driving enjoyment with plug-in hybrid efficiency.

Consider the 2026 if:

• At $110,018 CAD, the 2026 costs more than the current year's $85,355 CAD average.
• It adds more drivetrain variety and a broader luxury-sport character.

The bottom line: If you want the current-year X5 with softened pricing and a strong safety story, the 2025 is the sensible choice. If price matters most, the 2024 is the better value path; if you want the newest and most expansive version, look to the 2026.
