Is the 2025 Audi SQ5 a good car?

The 2025 Audi SQ5 earns a 7.2/10 expert rating.

The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Technology.

It stands out as a sporty, luxurious, and fun-to-drive compact luxury crossover SUV that still aims to work as an everyday vehicle. The redesign adds more power, more practicality, and next-generation technology, and the Sportback body style keeps its racy roofline without giving up as much passenger or cargo space as you might expect.

The trade-offs are clear: poor fuel economy and lacks hands-free driving tech. Even so, the SQ5 should suit you if you want a premium compact SUV that feels more engaging than most rivals while still delivering comfort and refinement.

Only 24.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is selective rather than especially bargain-heavy.

Is the 2025 Audi SQ5 reliable?

The 2025 Audi SQ5 is presented as a well-rounded, premium SUV with strong everyday comfort, solid road manners, and a powertrain that feels polished in normal use. Its turbocharged 3.0-litre V6, standard quattro all-wheel drive, and adaptive air suspension point to a mechanically sophisticated package that should feel reassuring in daily driving.

The performance side also reads as robust: it is quick, composed, and sure-footed, with the chassis and suspension helping it stay controlled even when the road gets rough. The main dependability concern in the expert evaluation is not the hardware itself, but the driver-assistance behaviour, which includes unwanted braking and inconsistent steering-wheel detection.

Audi also includes a four-year trial for connected services, which adds convenience during the early ownership period. For used buyers, the bigger long-term risk is that the SQ5’s advanced tech may be more frustrating than confidence-inspiring if you expect its assistance systems to work flawlessly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Audi SQ5?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SQ5 and SQ5 Sportback are offered in Progressiv and Technik trim levels. The Technik brings more visual and cabin flair, including customisable digital daytime running lights, OLED taillights, ambient cabin lighting, and Fine Nappa leather, while the Progressiv is the simpler entry point.
• Powertrain: You get a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 with 362 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive. It is quick, smooth, and tuned for strong everyday performance.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic high-beam headlights, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and front and rear parking sensors. Rear Turn Assist and Emergency Assist are also mentioned, but low-speed hands-free traffic jam assist is not offered.
• Infotainment: The Progressiv trim includes an 11.9-inch Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus display and a 14.5-inch OLED touchscreen, while the Technik adds a 10.9-inch passenger screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, Audi Assistant, and a 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen system are standard.
• Fuel efficiency: The official Natural Resources Canada fuel economy rating is 11.4 litres per 100 kilometres combined, and testing returned 11.5 L/100 km.

Which 2025 Audi SQ5 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Audi SQ5 is offered in 4 trim levels: Progressiv, Technik, Progressiv Sportback, Technik Sportback.

Here's the short version:

• Progressiv: This is the value-oriented choice if you want the SQ5 experience with the core performance hardware, the Audi Digital Stage screens, wireless smartphone integration, navigation, and the standard Bang & Olufsen audio system without paying for the extra visual and cabin flourishes.
• Technik: This is the best-value trim if you want the most complete version of the SQ5. It adds the passenger display, more distinctive lighting, and richer interior materials, making it the most fully featured choice for buyers who plan to keep the vehicle longer.
• Progressiv Sportback: Choose this if you want the same equipment logic as the standard Progressiv but prefer the Sportback body style’s styling and packaging.
• Technik Sportback: This is the most upscale and style-focused version, combining the Sportback body with the Technik’s added luxury and tech features.

The safety package is strong across the range, but the driver-assistance behaviour is not a highlight, so you should test those systems carefully before you commit.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Audi SQ5?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently without expecting a flood of deep discounts.

• Deal availability: 24.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 66 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.83% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $69,688 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Audi SQ5's resale value?

The current average of $69,688 CAD sits slightly below last year's $78,149 CAD.

That price movement suggests the SQ5 has become more approachable for used buyers, which can help you enter the market at a better point than a year ago. For a future seller, though, it also means you should expect softer resale conditions than before unless your vehicle is especially well equipped, low kilometre, and in strong condition.

If you buy now and keep the SQ5 in good shape, you may be able to limit depreciation pain, but the current trend still favours buyers more than sellers.

Is the 2025 Audi SQ5 safe?

The 2025 Audi SQ5 does not have released crash-test ratings of its own, but the related Audi Q5 earned a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, while IIHS testing on that model produced top Good ratings only in the small overlap front test and Acceptable and Marginal results elsewhere.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features on the 2025 SQ5 include automatic high-beam headlights, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and front and rear parking sensors.

Audi also includes Rear Turn Assist and Emergency Assist in the MMI safety settings menu, and the steering wheel is supposed to detect when you are holding it. The concern is that the system can be overactive and, in testing, triggered an unwarranted emergency-braking event. That kind of behaviour is a real caution point if you rely heavily on driver-assistance tech.

Should I buy a 2025 Audi SQ5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 24.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.83% compared with last year.
• It is the redesigned version with more power, added practicality, and next-generation technology.

The bottom line: If you want the newest SQ5 with the strongest mix of performance, comfort, and technology, the 2025 is the one to target. If your priority is stretching your budget, a lower-priced used example from a nearby year may be worth considering, but the 2025 gives you the most up-to-date package and the broadest appeal.
