Is the 2024 Toyota Sienna a good car?

Generally — the 2024 Toyota Sienna earns 4/5 from owners and 7.5/10 from our experts. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10.

It fits well if you want a family hauler that blends three-row practicality with strong efficiency and a comfortable, easy-to-live-with layout. The Sienna’s standard hybrid setup and available all-wheel drive make it especially appealing if you value fuel savings and all-weather flexibility over excitement.

The main trade-offs are fairly pedestrian performance and outdated technology. The Sienna is also described as comfy, but not especially thrilling to drive.

28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Toyota Sienna reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Toyota Sienna is positioned as a sensible, efficiency-focused family vehicle, and its standard hybrid setup supports that reputation. The expert assessment also points to strong value and a practical ownership experience, especially for buyers who want a minivan that is easy to live with.

Its hybrid powertrain is described as a dependable, fuel-sipping setup, and Toyota’s warranty coverage adds some reassurance for used buyers. If you plan to keep one long term, the biggest risk is more about age-related wear and feature datedness than any obvious red-flag reliability issue.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Toyota Sienna?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LE, XLE, XSE, and Limited trims give you a clear spread of equipment and style. The base trim is the most straightforward, while upper trims add more upscale lighting and cabin touches, and the XSE leans into a sportier look and feel.
• Powertrain: Every Sienna uses a 2.5-litre four-cylinder hybrid system with two electric motors, and AWD versions add a rear motor. You should expect efficient, smooth operation rather than quick acceleration.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense is standard and includes lane departure alert, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, road sign recognition, full-speed adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: You get a nine-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a 7-inch digital display in the gauge cluster. The system is older, so you should judge whether that matters to you.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid powertrain is rated at 6.6 L/100 km city, 6.5 highway, and 6.6 combined in front-wheel drive form, or 6.8 city, 6.6 highway, and 6.7 combined with AWD.

Which 2024 Toyota Sienna trim should I buy?

The 2024 Toyota Sienna is offered in 4 trim levels: LE, XLE, XSE, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the value-focused starting point, and it gives you the core Sienna formula with hybrid efficiency, three-row seating, and standard safety equipment. It makes the most sense if you want the lowest entry price and do not need extra luxury touches.
• XLE: This trim is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds more comfort and convenience without pushing too far up the price ladder. It suits you if you want a more polished family vehicle but still care about value.
• XSE: This is the sportier-looking trim, with a black metallic mesh grille, black heated side mirrors, 20-inch dark wheels, and leatherette-trimmed sport seats. Choose it if style matters more to you than maximum practicality.
• Limited: This is the most upscale version, with the richest equipment mix in the lineup. It is the one to consider if you want the most premium-feeling Sienna and are willing to pay for it.

Toyota Safety Sense is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up a trim just to get the core driver-assistance suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Toyota Sienna?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 229 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.99% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $53,302 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Toyota Sienna's resale value?

The current average of $54,883 CAD sits slightly below last year's $59,007 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer now, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about where the market is headed. If prices stay closer to the current average than last year’s level, resale values may remain under some pressure.

Even so, the Sienna’s efficiency and family-friendly appeal should help it stay relevant with used shoppers. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Toyota Sienna safe?

The 2024 Toyota Sienna earns Good ratings from IIHS crashworthiness and seat belt and child restraint systems, and it earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in side crash protection from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense is standard across the board and includes lane departure alert, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, road sign recognition, full-speed adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard.

One caveat is that front crash prevention is rated Average by IIHS, so that is worth keeping in mind if safety is a top priority.

Should I buy a 2024 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.99% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It combines standard hybrid efficiency with a comfortable, family-friendly layout.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $50,623 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $54,883 CAD average.
• It offers standard hybrid efficiency and practical family usefulness.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $59,253 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $54,883 CAD average.
• It adds a quieter cabin, easier tech, and available AWD.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of current pricing, efficiency, and family practicality, the 2024 is the smart middle ground. If your budget is tighter, the 2023 is the value play; if you want a newer-feeling cabin and can spend more, the 2025 is the upgrade path.
