Is the 2024 Polestar 2 a good car?

The 2024 Polestar 2 earns an 6.8/10 expert rating, and the standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

The 2024 Polestar 2 combines stylish design with impressive electric range and a fun-to-drive character. It also gets some notable updates for the year, including a range boost, revised styling, and powertrain changes, which help keep it feeling fresh.

The trade-offs are clear: advanced safety features are not standard, the ergonomics are criticised, and value for money is a weakness.

There are 19.2% of listings priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Polestar 2 reliable?

The 2024 Polestar 2 is positioned as a modern EV with a straightforward lineup and a long battery warranty, which helps support confidence for used buyers. Its electric powertrain also benefits from the brand’s focus on a polished driving experience and updated hardware for the year.

The performance setup is described as improved for 2024, with the single-motor model switching to rear-wheel drive and gaining more power, while the dual-motor version also gets output increases. That points to a vehicle that was engineered to feel more refined and more capable than before.

Polestar’s battery warranty guarantees at least 70% of original capacity during the warranty period, and the car’s range and charging figures suggest it is designed for regular daily use as well as longer trips. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the battery and charging history are healthy, especially if the car has seen frequent fast charging or lives in a colder climate.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Polestar 2?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup is simple, but the base car is light on standard equipment compared with pricier versions. You should pay close attention to whether the car has the features you want, especially because advanced safety features are not standard on every version.
• Powertrain: The single-motor model uses rear-wheel drive and makes 299 horsepower, while the dual-motor version adds all-wheel drive and more output. The Performance Pack raises output further and adds Brembo brakes and manually adjustable dampers.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assistance features include lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, cross traffic alert, park assist, and a 360-degree camera system. The optional Pilot Pack adds adaptive cruise control and Pilot Assist.
• Infotainment: You get an 11.2-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, Google Built-in apps, Google Maps navigation, Google Assistant voice control, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Because so many functions live on the screen, make sure the interface suits you.
• Range & charging: Single-motor models are rated at up to 515 km with 19-inch wheels and 494 km with 20-inch wheels. Dual-motor versions are rated at 444 km with 19-inch wheels, 428 km with 20-inch wheels, and 397 km with the Performance Pack. DC fast charging can reach up to 205 kW on the single-motor model, with a 10% to 80% charge in 28 minutes.
• Battery health: Check the battery state of health, ask how the car was typically charged at home versus on DC fast chargers, and confirm how much battery warranty coverage remains. A used EV with a healthy battery history is the safer long-term bet.

• Long Range Dual Motor: Choose this if you want all-wheel drive and stronger acceleration. It suits you best if performance and traction matter more than price or maximum range.

The optional Pilot Pack adds adaptive cruise control and Pilot Assist, while the Performance Pack is reserved for the dual-motor model and adds Brembo brakes and manually adjustable dampers.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Polestar 2?

• Deal availability: 19.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 203 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.19% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $34,829 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Polestar 2's resale value?

The current average of $37,418 CAD sits slightly below last year's $45,183 CAD.

That drop suggests the market has become more favourable for used buyers, but it also means a future seller may face more price pressure than owners did a year ago. If you buy now, you may be entering at a softer point in the cycle, which can help limit depreciation risk compared with buying when prices are still elevated. For resale, the strongest protection will likely come from a well-kept car with desirable equipment, strong battery health, and a clean history.

One important caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup, so you should confirm exactly which package a used example has before you buy.

Should I buy a 2024 Polestar 2 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 19.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.19% compared with last year.
• The year’s updates matter to you, including the range boost, revised styling, and powertrain changes.

The bottom line: The 2024 is the better pick if you want the updated version with stronger range and a fresher feel. If you are especially price-sensitive, a lower-priced earlier example may still be worth considering, but the 2024 gives you the most complete version of the Polestar 2 in this market.
