How much does the 2024 Nissan Sentra cost?

Is the 2024 Nissan Sentra a good car?

The 2024 Nissan Sentra is a solid value-focused compact sedan, though it asks you to accept some compromises in technology and rear-seat space. It earns a user rating of 3.7/5 and an expert rating of 7.00/10.

The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Cost effectiveness.

It stands out as an honest, easy-to-live-with sedan with refreshed styling and improved fuel economy for 2024, and it is aimed at buyers who want practicality over flash. The trade-offs are clear: the back seat is cramped, and the technology feels outdated compared with rivals.

With 32.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2024 Nissan Sentra reliable?

The 2024 Nissan Sentra is built around straightforward mechanicals and a value-first approach, which helps keep ownership expectations simple. Nissan’s 2024 updates also focus on improved fuel economy, and the CVT is reengineered for smoother operation and better efficiency.

The Sentra’s efficiency-focused changes are meant to improve everyday usability, and Nissan’s warranty coverage is comparable to other mainstream brands. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a budget-friendly car with mixed safety results and dated tech may age less gracefully if it has been poorly maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Nissan Sentra?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes S, S Plus, SV, SR, and SR Premium. The base S and S Plus use 16-inch steel wheels, while the SV gets 16-inch alloy wheels and the SR adds 18-inch wheels plus model-specific styling. The SV and SR also bring more equipment than the base trims, and the SR Premium adds leatherette upholstery and an available Bose audio system.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with front-wheel drive. In Canada, the S and SR grades can be had with a six-speed manual transmission, while the CVT is reengineered for 2024 to improve fuel efficiency and smoother operation.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard, with forward collision warning, front and rear automatic emergency braking with front pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, and automatic high beams. SV and SR models add adaptive cruise control, and a 360-degree camera system is offered on the SR Premium.
• Infotainment: The base model gets a 7-inch touchscreen and a 4.2-inch instrument display. SV and SR models upgrade to an 8-inch touchscreen and a 7-inch instrument display, but wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not offered.
• Fuel efficiency: Manual-transmission models are rated at 9.4 L/100 km city, 6.4 L/100 km highway, and 8.0 L/100 km combined. CVT models are rated at 7.3 L/100 km city, 5.8 L/100 km highway, and 6.6 L/100 km combined. SR trims are rated at 8.2 L/100 km combined with the manual and 6.8 L/100 km combined with the CVT.

Which 2024 Nissan Sentra trim should I buy?

The 2024 Nissan Sentra is offered in 5 trim levels: S, S Plus, SV, SR, and SR Premium.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point if you want the lowest-cost way into the Sentra, but it keeps the smaller 7-inch touchscreen and the most basic cabin presentation. It suits you if value matters more than features.
• S Plus: This trim mainly swaps the manual transmission for a CVT, so it makes sense if you want the automatic setup without moving up the range.
• SV: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds 16-inch alloy wheels, the larger 8-inch touchscreen, a bigger instrument display, and adaptive cruise control. It gives you the most useful upgrades without pushing too far up the price ladder.
• SR: Choose this if you want the sportier look, 18-inch wheels, and the extra styling touches. It also keeps the manual-transmission option in Canada.
• SR Premium: This is the most upscale Sentra, with leatherette upholstery and the available Bose audio system, plus the 360-degree camera system. It makes sense if you want the most features and are willing to pay for them.

The SV and SR trims add adaptive cruise control, while the SR Premium is the only trim offered with the 360-degree camera system.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Nissan Sentra?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 676 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.46% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $21,542 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Nissan Sentra's resale value?

The current average of $21,557 CAD sits slightly below last year's $24,910 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Sentra has become more affordable for used buyers, which can help demand in the short term. For a future seller, it also means you may need to price competitively if you want to stand out in a market where values have already softened. If the model continues to age with its current value-first reputation, resale should remain tied closely to condition, mileage, and trim level.

Is the 2024 Nissan Sentra safe?

The 2024 Nissan Sentra received a Good rating in the IIHS’s original side-impact crash test, but only an Acceptable rating in the updated version, and it also received a Poor headlight rating. It earned five-star ratings in rollover and side crash tests from NHTSA.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard, and it includes forward collision warning, front and rear automatic emergency braking with front pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, and automatic high beams. SV and SR models add adaptive cruise control, while the SR Premium offers a 360-degree camera system.

The mixed crash-test results and poor headlight rating are the main caveats to keep in mind if safety is a top priority for you.

Should I buy a 2024 Nissan Sentra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.46% compared with last year.
• The refreshed styling and improved fuel economy matter to you.

The bottom line: If you want the Sentra with the updated look and better efficiency, the 2024 model is the one to target. If you are more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may still make sense, but the 2024 gives you the benefit of the refresh without moving far up the used-car price ladder.
