CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Nissan Kicks
Summary
With 297 currently listed for sale and an average price of $23,395 CAD, 8.1% of 2024 Nissan Kicks listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Nissan Kicks 4.67 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Nissan Kicks stands out as a practical, value-focused subcompact SUV that has built its reputation on simplicity, reliability, and low running costs. It was designed to appeal to drivers looking for safe, reliable, no-frills transportation, and it remained front-wheel drive only through this generation. That formula makes it especially appealing to buyers who want an affordable small SUV without paying for extra complexity they may not need.
Its strengths are easy to understand: the Kicks is fuel-efficient, and the first-generation model uses a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine with 125 hp and 115 lb-ft of torque. It is not quick, but it does offer excellent fuel economy, with Natural Resources Canada estimates of 7.7 litres per 100 kilometres in the city, 6.6 on the highway, and 7.2 combined. The cabin also became more appealing after the 2021 refresh, which brought updated exterior styling with a new grille and upgraded interior materials, along with standard safety and driver assistance equipment such as automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, high beam assist, and rear automatic braking.
The Kicks also offers a useful spread of features across its trims. The base S model includes Bluetooth connectivity, push-button start, and a seven-inch infotainment screen, while the mid-level SV adds aluminum wheels, heated front seats and exterior mirrors, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and automatic climate control. At the top, the SR brings LED headlights, additional exterior trim, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 360-degree camera, and an upgraded Bose Personal Plus Audio System with headrest speakers. Its main limitation is straightforward: it is quite small, and buyers who need all-wheel drive will have to look elsewhere.

The 2024 Nissan Kicks is a smart, budget-friendly subcompact SUV that delivers great value. It’s fuel-efficient, easy to drive, and surprisingly roomy for its size. Standard tech like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a strong safety suite make it a great choice for city driving or first-time SUV buyers. While it’s not built for speed or off-roading, it excels in comfort, practicality, and price. A solid pick for anyone looking for affordable versatility.

Is the 2024 Nissan Kicks reliable?
Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The 2024 Nissan Kicks is built around simplicity, reliability, and low running costs, which are all traits that tend to matter in everyday ownership. Its fuel-efficient setup and no-frills design should help keep ownership straightforward for used buyers. For long-term ownership, the main risk is less about complexity and more about whether the vehicle’s small size and modest performance suit your needs over time.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Nissan Kicks?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.
- Deal availability: 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

What is the 2024 Nissan Kicks's resale value?
The current average of $22,531 CAD sits slightly below last year's $25,033 CAD.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make the Kicks easier to buy now but a little less favourable if you're planning to sell soon. If you own one for a few years, the current softness may limit short-term upside, though the model's value-focused reputation can still help it stay relevant with budget-minded shoppers. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Choose the 2024 if:
- 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.00% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2025 if:
- At $24,730 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $22,531 CAD average.
- The redesign adds available all-wheel drive and a more upscale feel.
The bottom line:
Choose the 2024 if you want the lower-priced, simpler option and value matters most. If you can stretch your budget and want the newer redesign with more features, the 2025 is the better path; price-sensitive buyers should stay focused on the 2024.
