Is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA a good car?

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA stands out as a compact luxury car that leans heavily into style and technology. It is described as looking much like an updated version of the first car, while adding Mercedes-Benz’s latest tech and powertrains. That gives it a familiar shape with a more modern feel, and the cabin follows suit with huge display screens, lots of ambient lighting, and a glitzy design. It also shares many parts with the Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan and wagon, which helps explain its upscale character.

For you, the appeal is in its equipment and breadth of choice. The standard trim includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, heated and electrically adjustable front seats, leatherette upholstery, LED headlights, and driver assistance features such as an active braking system and blind-spot assist. The model line also includes a plug-in hybrid, and all-wheel drive is standard in Canada. The performance-oriented versions add more power and features, including rear-wheel steering on the AMG models.

There are trade-offs, though. Some versions are expensive, and the car is not that much fun to drive. Even so, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA remains appealing if you want a premium compact car that prioritises comfort, technology, and a polished appearance over outright driving excitement.

With 39.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you a decent chance to find a competitively priced example.

Is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA reliable?

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA is described as having a reliability record that isn’t great. That matters if you want a used luxury car that you can keep for the long haul without much worry.

The upside is that the CLA’s appeal is built around comfort, technology, and a polished premium feel, so it can still make sense if those priorities matter most to you. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a weaker reliability reputation can translate into more uncertainty over repair needs and running costs.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be patient and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 39.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 189 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 28.68% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $38,242 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA's resale value?

The current average of $38,242 CAD sits slightly below last year's $53,617 CAD.

For a future seller, that kind of drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make today’s purchase price more attractive than it was a year ago. If you buy at the right number now, you may have less room for depreciation pressure than someone who bought when prices were higher. The key is to avoid overpaying, because resale value will depend heavily on how well your purchase price lines up with the current market.

Should I buy a 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 39.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 28.68% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2024 is the right pick if you want the CLA’s modern styling, strong equipment list, and premium feel, especially now that prices have eased. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby model year could still be worth comparing, but the 2024 stands out as the better choice when you want the freshest version at a more favourable market price.
