CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Hyundai Tucson
overall

Summary
With 166 currently listed for sale and an average price of $27,823 CAD, 22.9% of 2024 Hyundai Tucson listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Hyundai Tucson 4.6 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.5 / 10.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Hyundai Tucson stands out as a well-rounded compact SUV rather than one that tries to dominate a single category. It combines an athletic, contemporary look with a refined cabin, good passenger and cargo space, and a strong list of safety features. That broad appeal is part of its charm: it is aimed at shoppers who want an overall capable small SUV with an attractive price tag and a good value proposition.
There are still a few trade-offs. The infotainment system can be frustrating, and the tech can be less than intuitive at times. The powertrain is also a mixed point, with an energetic turbocharged setup noted on the positive side but the overall powertrain still described as disappointing. Even so, the Tucson’s blend of space, styling, and equipment makes it appealing for buyers who care more about balance than about chasing a single standout trait.

The car has great features, I wish it had more compartments. It needs somewhere to put your sunglasses. I also drove the Santa fe. It was really nice but also so much more now with the upgraded body.

I love the features of this car. It has everything I want and more. I love the sleek design. It’s a great price for its value. I’ve had no issues so far. The only complaint I have is the visor lighting is very poor, but that’s a very minor complaint.

How much does the 2024 Hyundai Tucson cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $28,961 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $28,961 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $33,228 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $33,228 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −12.84% |
Prices have softened 12.84% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 640 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory for you to compare.
Is the 2024 Hyundai Tucson a good car?
Yes — you’re looking at a 4.6/5 vehicle with an expert rating of 8.5/10. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.
Owners consistently praise its great features, sleek design, spacious interior, and value for money, and the modern technology is another recurring plus. The Tucson is aimed at you if you want a well-rounded compact SUV with a strong value proposition rather than a model that tries to dominate one single category.
The trade-offs are that the infotainment system can be frustrating and the powertrain is described as disappointing overall, even though the turbocharged setup is energetic. Even so, the Tucson’s balance of space, styling, and equipment makes it appealing if you care more about overall capability than about chasing a standout performance edge.
With 30.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s still meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.
Is the 2024 Hyundai Tucson reliable?
Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable, with strong value, useful features, and a cabin that many people are happy to live with over time. The expert assessment also supports that impression by describing the Tucson as a well-rounded SUV with a comfortable, spacious cabin and helpful technology.
Hyundai’s 5-year/100,000-kilometre new vehicle warranty adds another layer of reassurance for used buyers who want some protection against early ownership surprises.
For used shoppers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the infotainment and powertrain compromises will bother you over time.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Hyundai Tucson?
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Preferred trim gives you 17-inch alloy wheels and roof rails, while the N Line adds 19-inch alloy wheels. The Ultimate trim brings a dark chrome grille and upgraded headlights, so you should check whether the features you want are standard or reserved for higher trims.
- Powertrain: You get a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. It is the only non-hybrid powertrain offered, and it is fine around town but can feel short on motivation at highway speeds.
- Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, driver attention monitoring, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The Ultimate trim adds front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree parking camera system, Smart Park remote-parking, and a blind-spot camera system.
- Infotainment: You get a 10.25-inch touchscreen and a fully digital instrument panel. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are wired only, and the interface uses a haptic volume toggle instead of a traditional dial.
- Fuel efficiency: Fuel consumption is rated at 10.0 L/100 km in city driving, 7.9 L/100 km on the highway, and 9.1 L/100 km combined.
Which 2024 Hyundai Tucson trim should I buy?
The 2024 Hyundai Tucson is offered in 4 trim levels: Preferred, N Line, Luxury, and Ultimate.
Here's the short version:
- Preferred: This is the value-focused starting point, and it already gives you a strong equipment list with heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, and the 10.25-inch touchscreen. If you want the best-value trim, this is the one to start with.
- N Line: This trim adds a sportier look and feel with 19-inch alloy wheels, combination leather and cloth seats, ambient lighting, paddle shifters, aluminium pedals, and a Bose 8-speaker sound system. It suits you if you want more style and a richer cabin presentation.
- Luxury: This trim builds on the comfort and convenience story with heated outboard rear seats, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and rear occupant alert and rear parking distance warning features. It is a good fit if you want a more family-friendly middle ground.
- Ultimate: This is the most fully equipped version, adding ventilated front seats, genuine leather upholstery, memory settings for the driver’s seat, front parking distance warning, remote smart park assist, rear parking collision avoidance, highway drive assist, a surround-view camera, and a camera-based blind view monitor. It is the right pick if you want the most advanced safety and parking tech.
The safety package is broad across the lineup, but the Ultimate trim clearly adds the most advanced driver-assistance features.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Hyundai Tucson?

If you find a listing below $28,961 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Hyundai Tucson's resale value?
The current average of $28,961 CAD sits slightly below last year's $33,228 CAD.
That softer pricing can be good news if you’re buying now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if prices stay under pressure. If you own one for several years, the current trend suggests you should expect resale values to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim desirability.
The Tucson’s broad appeal helps support demand because it offers space, safety, and value in a package many shoppers want. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2024 Hyundai Tucson safe?
The 2024 Tucson earns Good ratings in most phases of IIHS crash testing, an Acceptable score for its standard headlights, and a Superior score for crash-prevention technology. It also earns five-star ratings in a frontal crash test and four-star ratings in a rollover test from NHTSA.
It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, driver attention monitoring, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
The range-topping Ultimate trim adds front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree parking camera system, Smart Park remote-parking, and a blind-spot camera system. That means you get a strong base safety suite, with the most advanced parking and visibility aids reserved for the top trim.
Should I buy a 2024 Hyundai Tucson or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.84% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2024 model year combines a well-rounded cabin, strong safety equipment, and a good-value positioning in the compact SUV segment.
The bottom line: If you want a balanced compact SUV with strong safety, good space, and a price that has eased from last year, the 2024 Tucson is the one to focus on. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also use the softer market to compare closely against nearby model years and choose the best-equipped example for your budget.
