Is the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu a good car?

Generally — 4/5 is a solid user rating for a used sedan, and the Malibu’s appeal is strongest if you want a traditional four-door with a roomy cabin, easy-to-use features, and straightforward everyday practicality. It is described as a larger, more open-feeling family car with a more sophisticated feel than the model it replaced, but it is also best suited to buyers who value space and value over polish.

27.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a decent amount of market choice if you shop carefully.

Is the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Malibu’s final generation is described as having the best reliability record of all front-wheel drive Malibus, and it generates far fewer owner complaints than earlier versions. That makes it a sensible used-car pick if you want a familiar sedan with a strong reputation for day-to-day dependability.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about basic reliability and more about whether the car’s simpler, less refined character fits your expectations over time.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 27.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 225 listings available.

What is the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $23,342 CAD sits slightly below last year's $26,267 CAD.

That softer pricing can work in your favour as a buyer now, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about where the market has settled. If you buy at the right price, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to the earlier average. The Malibu’s value-focused positioning and practical cabin should help it remain appealing to shoppers who want a straightforward midsize sedan.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2024 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 27.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.14% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: Buy the 2024 if you want the Malibu’s final-year appeal, roomy cabin, and value-oriented character, especially if you find one priced near the lower end of the market. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year can also make sense, but the 2024 is the cleaner choice when you want the latest version of this long-running sedan without paying a premium.
