Is the 2023 Chevrolet Malibu a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Chevrolet Malibu earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. It fits you well if you want a roomy, value-focused midsize sedan with a cabin that feels more open than earlier versions and a straightforward setup that prioritises comfort and practicality over excitement. Its appeal is strongest if you want a larger car without paying the prices of some rivals. With 27.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still a meaningful share of attractive inventory to consider.

Is the 2023 Chevrolet Malibu reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 Malibu is described as having the Malibu’s strongest reliability record among front-wheel-drive Malibus, and it benefits from a long-running reputation for being easy to live with. It also carries over an established package rather than introducing major changes, which can be reassuring if you prefer a proven used-car formula. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about novelty and more about choosing a well-maintained example that has been cared for consistently.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Chevrolet Malibu?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 27.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 266 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.43% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $20,933 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $20,989 CAD sits slightly below last year's $23,698 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Malibu has softened enough to give used buyers more negotiating room today, but it also means future sellers may need to price carefully to stay competitive. Because the model is positioned as a value-focused midsize sedan, resale performance will likely depend on condition, mileage, and how well the car is equipped relative to similar listings. A lower entry price can help attract shoppers now, but it may also limit upside later if the market continues to favour affordability over premium features.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 27.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.43% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2023 Malibu makes the most sense if you want a proven, roomy sedan with strong owner satisfaction and a market that currently favours buyers. If you are especially price-sensitive, you could also look at nearby model years to compare inventory and pricing, but the 2023 is a sensible primary target when you want the best balance of value and confidence.
