Is the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu a good car?

Generally — the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu earns a 4/5 user rating and fits you well if you want a roomy, value-focused midsize sedan with plenty of space, pleasing styling, and easy-to-use features. It is also positioned as a straightforward family car that is generally cheaper than rivals such as the Camry or Accord, which strengthens its appeal if you prioritise practicality and price over polish. The Malibu’s refined front-drive generation adds comfort, technology, and an intuitive infotainment setup, though it is still best suited to you if you do not need a particularly engaging drive. 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Chevrolet Malibu comes from the Malibu’s most refined front-drive generation, and it is described as having stronger reliability marks than earlier Malibus. It also feels higher in quality than its predecessors, while still being less refined than some competitors. For used buyers, that points to a manageable long-term ownership risk if you choose a well-kept example and stay on top of routine maintenance.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Chevrolet Malibu?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still have a decent chance of finding a fair deal.

• Deal availability: 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 217 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.00% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $23,204 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $23,653 CAD sits slightly below last year's $27,186 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Malibu has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help you if you buy now and hold the car for a few years. For a future seller, the softer market means resale gains are unlikely in the near term, so condition, mileage, and maintenance history will matter more when it is time to trade or sell. Because the Malibu is still a practical, value-oriented sedan, it should remain appealing to shoppers who want space and simplicity without paying for a premium badge.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2024 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.00% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2024 if you want a roomy, value-focused Malibu with a strong mix of practicality, comfort, and straightforward technology. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may still make sense, but the 2024 is the better target when you want a newer example with a favourable market position and enough inventory to compare carefully.
