Used 2024 BMW X5 for Sale nearOttawa, ON

How much does the 2024 BMW X5 cost?

Prices have softened 11.96% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 176 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 BMW X5 a good car?

Yes — the 2024 BMW X5 earns a 4.83/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its smooth hybrid performance, comfort, and impressive technology, and they also call out hands-free driving and electric range as favourites. In use, it suits you well if you want a premium midsize SUV that still feels rewarding to drive rather than merely competent.

The trade-offs are that voice recognition technology is poor and advanced safety features are not standard. Even so, the market still shows 29.5% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 BMW X5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.83/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe it as smooth, comfortable, and impressive in day-to-day use, with technology and electric driving range standing out as dependable strengths. The plug-in hybrid system also comes across as a well-integrated part of the ownership experience, which supports confidence if you plan to keep the vehicle for the long term.

BMW’s performance tuning and premium hardware suggest a sophisticated SUV, but that also means you should pay close attention to maintenance history and how the vehicle was used. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a complex luxury powertrain can be costly if prior care was inconsistent.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 BMW X5?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The X5’s cabin and exterior styling are shaped by the M Sport treatment, and the test vehicle’s optional 21-inch wheel package adds visual appeal but also means replacement tyres can be costly. You should check whether the features you want are included, because BMW also sells equipment packages and standalone options that can change the value equation.
• Powertrain: You can shop the X5 with a turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine, a turbo-six plug-in hybrid powertrain, a turbocharged V8, or the high-performance X5 M Competition. The plug-in hybrid version is the one that delivers about 63 kilometres of electric-only driving and strong overall power.
• Safety package: BMW’s Highway Assistant hands-free driving assistance system is available, and it works with Assisted Driving Plus cruise control mode. It is best in dense, slow-moving traffic or light traffic at higher speeds, but it is not a substitute for attentive driving.
• Infotainment: The BMW Curved Display combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel with a 14.9-inch touchscreen. You get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, over-the-air software updates, and BMW Operating System 8.5.
• Fuel efficiency: BMW says the xDrive50e should return 10.6 L/100 km in combined driving, and testing showed 7.0 L/100 km on one mixed journey and 6.0 L/100 km on another. Electric-only testing also returned 25.9 kWh/100 km and 23.0 kWh/100 km.

Which 2024 BMW X5 trim should I buy?

The 2024 BMW X5 is offered in 4 trim levels: xDrive40i, xDrive50e, M60i, X5 M Competition.

Here's the short version:

• xDrive40i: This is the entry point if you want the X5’s core luxury-SUV experience with the turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine and BMW’s standard all-wheel drive setup in Canada. It makes sense if you want the least expensive path into the model without chasing the plug-in hybrid’s extra complexity.
• xDrive50e: This is the best-value choice for most buyers because it adds the plug-in hybrid powertrain, strong electric-only range, and the most compelling blend of performance and efficiency. If you want the version that best matches the X5’s character, this is the one to target.
• M60i: Choose this if you want the turbocharged V8 and are willing to pay more for stronger straight-line performance. It suits you if the X5 is as much about power as it is about comfort and refinement.
• X5 M Competition: This is the extreme performance choice, with the most powerful turbo V8 in the lineup. It is for you if outright speed matters more than value or efficiency.

BMW’s Highway Assistant is available, but advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 BMW X5?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 176 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.96% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $70,377 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 BMW X5's resale value?

The current average of $71,575 CAD sits slightly below last year's $81,300 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the softer pricing means you may need to be more competitive on asking price to stand out.

The X5 still has appeal because it combines premium materials, strong driving dynamics, and a desirable plug-in hybrid option. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 BMW X5 safe?

The 2024 X5 earns high ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, although lower headlight ratings prevented it from earning an IIHS safety award for this model year. It earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

BMW’s Highway Assistant hands-free driving assistance system is available, and it works with Assisted Driving Plus cruise control mode. Standard operation relies on deliberate activation through the infotainment safety menu and steering wheel controls, and the system uses clear indicators on the digital display and steering wheel when it is ready.

The system is generally subtle and effective, especially in dense traffic or light traffic at higher speeds. Still, the test experience included some abrupt braking and occasional misreads, so you should treat it as a convenience feature rather than a reason to relax your attention.

Should I buy a 2024 BMW X5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.96% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 update adds BMW Curved Display tech and a more compelling plug-in hybrid setup.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $85,096 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $71,575 CAD average.
• It gets a limited-edition anniversary model and otherwise carries over.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger value proposition, the 2024 is the better buy because it combines a lower average price with meaningful updates. If you are price-sensitive, the 2024 also gives you more room to find a deal without giving up the X5’s core strengths.
