How much does the 2024 Acura MDX cost?

Prices have softened 14.16% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 181 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Acura MDX a good car?

The 2024 Acura MDX is a strong fit if you want a well-rounded luxury SUV that balances comfort, refinement, family space, and standard equipment, though it is not the most spacious or tech-friendly option in the class. It earns a 3.5/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating.

The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Safety.

It stands out for strong engines, sharp handling, and a broad feature set, while the Type S Ultra adds a higher-performance flavour to the three-row, seven-passenger layout. The main trade-offs are the frustrating infotainment system, a ride that can feel firm for some drivers, and a third row that is small for a midsize SUV.

With 34.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Acura MDX reliable?

The 2024 Acura MDX is presented as a well-rounded, cost-effective luxury SUV with a strong safety record and a four-year, 80,000-kilometre limited warranty. Its standard powertrain is a 3.5-litre V6, and the Type S Ultra uses a twin-scroll turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 with a 10-speed automatic and SH-AWD.

The expert assessment describes the MDX as comfortable, refined, and capable of handling daily driving and road trips with ease. It also notes that the MDX delivers strong performance and that the Type S Ultra is light on its feet for a roughly 2,000-kilogram SUV.

For long-term ownership, the biggest used-buyer risk is less about mechanical weakness and more about whether the clumsy infotainment setup will frustrate you over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Acura MDX?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Tech trim gives you a long list of standard features, but the A-Spec adds sportier styling, ventilated front seats, UltraSuede seat inserts, and an upgraded audio system. Platinum Elite adds more ambient lighting, roof rails, and a surround-view camera system with a head-up display, while the Type S Ultra brings the most performance and luxury equipment, including massaging front seats.
• Powertrain: The standard 3.5-litre V6 makes 290 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque, while the Type S Ultra’s twin-scroll turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 makes 355 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque. The Type S Ultra also adds Brembo performance brakes, adaptive air suspension, and a Lift mode for extra ground clearance.
• Safety package: The MDX includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-departure warning, lane keeping assist, driver attention monitoring, traffic-sign recognition, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. A surround-view camera system and head-up display start on Platinum Elite.
• Infotainment: The MDX uses a 12.3-inch display with a touchpad controller, and it can be frustrating to operate. It does come standard with wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, satellite radio, HD radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, multiple USB ports, a fully digital instrument panel, and wireless device charging.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates the standard MDX at 12.6 L/100 km city, 9.4 highway, and 11.2 combined. The Type S Ultra rises to 13.8 L/100 km city, 11.2 highway, and 12.4 combined.

Which 2024 Acura MDX trim should I buy?

The 2024 Acura MDX is offered in 4 trim levels: Tech, A-Spec, Platinum Elite, Type S Ultra.

Here's the short version:

• Tech: This is the value-focused starting point, and it already gives you a generous standard feature list, including leather upholstery, a panoramic moonroof, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated outboard rear seats, navigation, and the standard audio system. It suits you best if you want the MDX experience without chasing the pricier luxury extras.
• A-Spec: This trim adds a sportier look and feel, plus ventilated front seats, UltraSuede seat inserts, and an upgraded 16-speaker ELS audio system. It is the best fit if you want a more distinctive cabin and a stronger equipment mix without jumping to the top end.
• Platinum Elite: This is the trim to choose if you want more luxury and convenience, including 23-position ambient lighting, roof rails, open-pore wood inserts, 16-way power-adjustable front seats, a surround-view camera system, and a head-up display. It is the most balanced upscale choice.
• Type S Ultra: This is the performance and flagship luxury trim, with the turbocharged V6, Brembo brakes, adaptive air suspension, 25-speaker audio, and massaging front seats. Choose it if you want the most power and the richest feature set.

The safety package is comprehensive across the lineup, while the surround-view camera system and head-up display begin at Platinum Elite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Acura MDX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 34.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 181 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.16% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $52,158 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Acura MDX's resale value?

The current average of $52,295 CAD sits slightly below last year's $60,923 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the MDX is currently more buyer-friendly than it was a year ago. If you plan to sell later, you should expect the market to remain sensitive to condition, trim, and equipment because the model is already trading below its prior-year average.

For a future seller, the current trend means you may not recover as much as owners did a year ago. Well-equipped trims and clean service history should matter more if you want to protect value.

Is the 2024 Acura MDX safe?

The 2024 Acura MDX earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS, with a best score of Good in all phases of IIHS evaluation.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The MDX comes with a comprehensive suite of standard driver-assistance features, including automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-departure warning, lane keeping assist, driver attention monitoring, traffic-sign recognition, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. A surround-view camera system and head-up display are added starting with Platinum Elite.

One caveat is that the infotainment setup can distract you because it requires more attention than a conventional touchscreen interface.

Should I buy a 2024 Acura MDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 34.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.16% compared with last year.
• It adds a new Type S Ultra trim with higher performance and richer luxury features.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $47,864 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $52,295 CAD average.
• It offers a stylish, capable three-row luxury SUV with strong safety ratings.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $60,032 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $52,295 CAD average.
• It brings a refreshed, more intuitive user experience and a more sophisticated feel.

The bottom line: The 2024 MDX is the right pick if you want the newer Type S Ultra and a well-rounded luxury SUV at a softer price than last year. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2023 is the better value play; if you want the latest updates and can spend more, the 2025 is the stronger upgrade path.
