Used 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan for Sale nearWaterloo, ON

How much does the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan cost?

Prices have softened 16.23% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 814 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

It stands out as a crossover SUV that feels more upscale in appearance and more enjoyable to drive than many of its primary competitors. It also has a stylish design and great handling, which helps give it a more polished character than many shoppers expect in this class.

Practicality is another major part of its appeal. The Tiguan is larger inside than many of its rivals, and it is one of two vehicles in its segment to offer a third-row seat. It also offers plenty of cargo space, making it a strong choice for buyers who want everyday usefulness along with a more refined feel.

Trade-offs include fairly pedestrian performance and an unintuitive technology interface. The poor ergonomic design can also make some controls frustrating to use.

Overall, it suits you best if you want a mainstream SUV with a more upscale feel, strong handling, and extra versatility. The market also shows 28.9% of listings as good or great deals, which adds some shopping flexibility.

Is the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Tiguan’s overall character points to solid everyday dependability, with a roomy cabin, strong utility, and a well-assembled feel. Its powertrain is described as adequate rather than exciting, but it delivers predictable results and the all-wheel-drive system is standard in Canada.

Volkswagen also includes a complimentary subscription to Car-Net Remote Access with features such as remote engine starting, Family Guardian safety features, and a find my car function.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the tech and control layout may continue to frustrate you more than the mechanical package does.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim includes keyless entry with remote start and an 8-way power driver’s seat, while higher trims add a more upscale cabin, larger wheels, adaptive front lighting, and a light bar across the grille. The trim structure also affects your interior and exterior colour, wheel, and upholstery choices.
• Powertrain: You get a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 184 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. In Canada, 4Motion all-wheel drive is standard, and the Tiguan offers Eco, Normal, Sport, and Individual driving modes.
• Safety package: Front Assist and Side Assist are standard, with forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. IQ.Drive adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, active blind-spot monitoring, Lane Assist, Travel Assist, and Emergency Assist, and it is optional on base models and standard on other models.
• Infotainment: Lower trims use a 6.5-inch touchscreen, while other trims get an 8-inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, Car-Net connected services, SiriusXM 360L, and a nine-speaker Fender premium sound system appear on the top trim.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada says the R-Line trims should average 9.8 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving, and the test vehicle returned 10.4 L/100 km on a testing loop.

Which 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan trim should I buy?

The 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan is offered in 4 trim levels: Trendline, Comfortline, Comfortline R-Line Black, and Highline R-Line.

Here's the short version:

• Trendline: This is the entry point if you want the Tiguan’s core strengths at the lowest price, including standard keyless entry with remote start, an 8-way power driver’s seat, Front Assist, Side Assist, and standard 4Motion all-wheel drive.
• Comfortline: This is the trim to target if you want a better balance of equipment and value, since it builds on the base model while keeping the Tiguan’s roomy cabin, standard safety tech, and useful everyday character.
• Comfortline R-Line Black: This is the better choice if you want the sportier R-Line look without going all the way to the top trim, and it adds the more distinctive styling theme.
• Highline R-Line: This is the best-equipped version and the one to choose if you want the most upscale cabin, the larger 10.25-inch digital display, the 8-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone features, premium audio, adaptive front lighting, and the surround-view camera. It is the best-value pick if you want the Tiguan at its most polished.

IQ.Drive is optional on base models and standard on other models.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 814 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.23% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $27,198 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan's resale value?

The current average of $27,198 CAD sits slightly below last year's $32,468 CAD.

That decline suggests the Tiguan has become more affordable for used buyers, which can make it easier for future sellers to attract attention if pricing stays competitive. A softer market can also mean you may need to be more deliberate about condition, mileage, and trim when you eventually resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan safe?

The 2023 Tiguan earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS, though that rating does not apply for the 2023 calendar year. It also has incomplete NHTSA testing, and NHTSA noted that the driver’s door unlatched and opened during the side-impact test.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Front Assist and Side Assist are standard, and they include forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Volkswagen also includes an Automatic Post Collision Braking System on all trims.

IQ.Drive adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, active blind-spot monitoring that counter-steers to help avoid collisions, Lane Assist, Travel Assist, and Emergency Assist. It is optional on base models and standard on other models.

Should I buy a 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.23% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines upscale looks with strong practicality and a third-row seat.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $25,254 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $27,198 CAD average.
• It was refined rather than reinvented, with a light refresh and added safety tech.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $29,437 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $27,198 CAD average.
• It adds value with upgrades and standard advanced safety features.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price, practicality, and upscale character, the 2023 is the primary year to target. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2022 is the smarter value play, while the 2024 makes sense if you want to spend more for newer upgrades.
