Used 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan for Sale nearOshawa, ON

How much does the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan cost?

Prices have softened 17.12% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 787 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

It stands out as a crossover SUV that feels more upscale in appearance and more enjoyable to drive than many of its primary competitors. It also has a stylish design and great handling, which helps give it a more polished character than many shoppers expect in this class.

The trade-offs are fairly pedestrian performance and unintuitive technology, so you may want to be especially careful if you value quick acceleration or simple controls. It is a strong fit if you want everyday usefulness with a more refined feel, especially since it is larger inside than many rivals and offers a third-row seat.

With 26.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still room to find a compelling example if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Tiguan’s appeal comes from its practical packaging, upscale feel, and solid construction. It also has a good reputation in this review for being enjoyable to drive once you adapt to its powertrain quirks.

Its turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine and eight-speed automatic are competent, but the transmission can stumble and the engine can feel short on punch at higher revs. Volkswagen’s complimentary Car-Net Remote Access subscription adds useful convenience features, including remote engine starting and a find my car function.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the same tech and powertrain quirks that show up early can remain frustrating over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base setup includes keyless entry with remote start and an 8-way power driver’s seat, while higher trims add a more upscale cabin, larger wheels, adaptive front lighting, and a light bar across the grille. The trim you choose also affects how restricted your colour, wheel, and upholstery choices are.
• Powertrain: You get a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 184 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. In Canada, 4Motion all-wheel drive is standard, and the system can send up to 50% of power to the rear wheels.
• Safety package: Front Assist and Side Assist are standard, and Front Assist includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking. Side Assist adds blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. IQ.Drive is optional on base models and standard on other models, adding adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, active blind-spot monitoring, Lane Assist, Travel Assist, and Emergency Assist.
• Infotainment: Lower trims use a 6.5-inch touchscreen, while other Tiguans have an 8-inch touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, Car-Net connected services, and a nine-speaker Fender premium sound system are included on the top test vehicle, but the interface can be cumbersome.
• Fuel efficiency: According to Natural Resources Canada, the R-Line trims should average 9.8 L/100 km in combined driving. The test vehicle returned 10.4 L/100 km on the review loop.

Which 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan trim should I buy?

The 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan is offered in 4 trim levels: Trendline, Comfortline, Comfortline R-Line Black, and Highline R-Line.

Here's the short version:

• Trendline: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Tiguan experience with standard keyless entry, remote start, and an 8-way power driver’s seat. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but the feature set is more basic and the safety package is less complete than on higher trims.
• Comfortline: This is the trim to target if you want a better balance of equipment and value. It adds more content without jumping all the way to the most expensive versions, making it the best-value choice for many shoppers.
• Comfortline R-Line Black: This trim adds the sportier R-Line styling treatment, so it is the pick if appearance matters to you and you want a more distinctive look.
• Highline R-Line: This is the most upscale version, with the most premium cabin feel, larger 20-inch wheels, adaptive front lighting, and the most complete equipment list. It suits you best if you want the most polished Tiguan and are willing to pay for it.

IQ.Drive is optional on base models and standard on other models, so safety equipment improves as you move up the range.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you should still compare listings carefully before moving quickly.

• Deal availability: 26.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 787 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.12% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $27,226 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan's resale value?

The current average of $27,226 CAD sits slightly below last year's $32,849 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, which can make it harder for a future seller to command top dollar right away. If you own one, pricing it competitively will matter more than it did a year ago.

The Tiguan’s strong practicality, upscale feel, and broad appeal should still help support demand among used shoppers. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan safe?

The 2023 Tiguan earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS for the 2022 calendar year, though that rating does not apply for the 2023 calendar year.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

All Tiguans have standard Front Assist and Side Assist. Front Assist includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, while Side Assist adds blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. Volkswagen also includes an Automatic Post Collision Braking System.

IQ.Drive is optional on base models and standard on other models. It adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, active blind-spot monitoring that counter-steers to help avoid collisions, Lane Assist, Travel Assist, and Emergency Assist. Lane Assist includes lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist, while Travel Assist pairs adaptive cruise control with lane-centring assist.

One caveat is that NHTSA testing was incomplete at the time of the review, and NHTSA also noted that the driver’s door unlatched and opened during the side-impact test.

Should I buy a 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 26.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.12% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines upscale looks, strong practicality, and a third-row seat.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $25,308 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $27,226 CAD average.
• It is a refined, practical SUV with updated safety tech.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $29,538 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $27,226 CAD average.
• It adds value with upgrades and standard advanced safety features.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, practicality, and upscale character, the 2023 is the primary year to target. If your budget is tighter, the 2022 is the smarter price-sensitive alternative, while the 2024 makes sense if you want to pay more for added upgrades.
