How much does the 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid cost?

Prices have softened 7.62% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 399 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid a good car?

Yes — owners rate it 5/5, and our experts give it 6.5/10 overall, with an expert rating of 6.5/10 and a safety score of 7/10. The model scores 7/10 across Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the smooth ride, impressive fuel economy, and spacious interior. Those themes line up well with the RAV4 Hybrid’s practical, comfortable character and its appeal as an efficient compact SUV for everyday use.

The main trade-offs are that the interior isn’t as refined as some rivals and cargo capacity is smaller than average. That means you should see it as a well-rounded, efficiency-first choice rather than the most upscale or spacious option in the class.

The market also looks reasonably supportive, with 27.1% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. Review feedback also points to a smooth, dependable-feeling ownership experience, with praise for its trouble-free character, strong fuel economy, and practical day-to-day usability.

The expert assessment also highlights strong build quality and a calm, easy-to-live-with driving experience. On the ownership side, the hybrid system’s complexity means you should still check service history carefully, but the overall signals point to a reassuring used-buying proposition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base model leaves out a leather-wrapped steering wheel and uses a urethane wheel and centre armrest, while higher trims add more premium touches. You should also note that the Limited trim adds front and rear parking proximity sensors with automatic braking when backing up and a surround-view camera system, while these features are available on the XSE.
• Powertrain: The hybrid uses a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with an electric motor/generator, a CVT, and an additional rear electric motor for all-wheel drive. It produces 219 horsepower and is tuned for smooth, efficient everyday driving rather than sporty acceleration.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard, including forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning with steering assist, automatic high beams, and a traffic sign reader. In Canada, blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard.
• Infotainment: Most trims come with an 8.0-inch touchscreen, while higher trims upgrade to a 10.5-inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, the system supports over-the-air updates, and connectivity includes a Wi-Fi hotspot plus remote monitoring and control.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates fuel consumption at 5.8 L/100 km city, 6.3 L/100 km highway, and 6.0 L/100 km combined.

Which 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is offered in 5 trim levels: Hybrid LE AWD, Hybrid XLE AWD, Hybrid SE AWD, Hybrid XSE AWD, and Hybrid Limited AWD.

Here's the short version:

• Hybrid LE AWD: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core hybrid efficiency, standard all-wheel drive, and the full safety suite. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model and can live without the nicer cabin touches and larger screen found higher up.
• Hybrid XLE AWD: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more comfort and convenience without pushing you into the top-end pricing. It also sits at the point where the model starts to feel more polished, while still keeping the RAV4 Hybrid’s efficiency and easy-to-use tech.
• Hybrid SE AWD: Choose this if you want a slightly sportier-feeling trim in the lineup, but the available information here does not point to a major equipment leap over the XLE.
• Hybrid XSE AWD: This trim brings the larger 10.5-inch touchscreen, the fully digital instrument panel, and the more powerful 11-speaker JBL audio system. It also can be equipped with the parking and surround-view features mentioned in the safety content, making it a strong pick if you want a more upscale tech experience.
• Hybrid Limited AWD: This is the most feature-rich version, with the same parking and surround-view equipment and the digital rearview mirror. It suits you best if you want the most convenience and visibility tech in the range.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard across the lineup, and the Limited trim adds the most advanced parking and camera features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully rather than rush.

• Deal availability: 27.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 399 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.62% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $38,795 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid's resale value?

The current average of $38,951 CAD sits slightly below last year's $42,165 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more selectively today. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim choice rather than assuming the market will stay elevated.

Even so, the model’s strong owner satisfaction should help support demand when you eventually sell. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment are likely to remain easier to move than less appealing ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid safe?

The 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid earns five-star ratings for overall and side crash protection from NHTSA, and four-star ratings in frontal and rollover crash tests. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave it a Top Safety Pick rating.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard, and it includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning with steering assist, automatic high beams, and a traffic sign reader. In Canada, blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard.

The main caveat is that IIHS rated the RAV4 as Acceptable in its moderate overlap frontal and side-impact tests rather than its top score. That is still a strong result, but it is worth noting if safety is a top priority for you.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 27.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.62% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 stands out for its new infotainment system and the Woodland Edition’s off-road-capable angle.

The bottom line: If you want a used RAV4 Hybrid with strong efficiency, standard all-wheel drive, and a better infotainment setup, the 2023 is a sensible choice. If you are especially price-sensitive, it is worth comparing nearby model years to see whether a lower asking price outweighs the 2023’s updated tech and strong owner satisfaction.
