How much does the 2023 Nissan Versa cost?

Prices have softened 9.18% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 106 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Nissan Versa a good car?

The 2023 Nissan Versa earns an expert rating of 7.3/10.

The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10.

It fits well if you want basic subcompact-sedan transportation that still feels polished, with freshened styling and enough modernisation to stay relevant. The trade-offs are fairly pedestrian performance and outdated technology.

The market also looks reasonably favourable, with 23.6% of listings classified as good or great deals.

Is the 2023 Nissan Versa reliable?

The 2023 Nissan Versa is positioned as honest, basic transportation, and its standard warranty coverage includes three years or 60,000 kilometres of basic coverage and five years or 100,000 kilometres of powertrain coverage.

Its 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine and CVT are described as satisfactory rather than exciting, but the car is also said to feel more substantial than subcompact stereotypes might suggest. The ride is comfortable, cabin noise is lower than expected, and the overall package is aimed at dependable daily commuting rather than complexity.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a budget-focused car can show its age more quickly if maintenance is deferred, especially once warranty coverage has expired.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Nissan Versa?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Versa S is the most stripped-down version, while the SV and SR add more convenience and visual polish. If you want a more upscale feel, the SR stands out with red stitching and upholstery inserts, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, LED headlights, heated front seats, automatic climate control, and a centre console with armrest.
• Powertrain: All Versa models use a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine with front-wheel drive and a CVT. Output is 122 horsepower and 114 pound-feet of torque, and the car is tuned for efficiency and everyday commuting rather than strong acceleration.
• Safety package: The base Versa S comes standard with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rear automatic braking, lane-departure warning, and high beam assist. The SV adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a driver attention alert.
• Infotainment: The base S gets a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth phone connectivity and streaming audio, Siri Eyes Free, three USB ports, and keyless entry. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto require the SV or SR, while the SR adds an 8-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, and a six-speaker audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates fuel consumption at 7.4 L/100 km in city driving, 5.9 L/100 km on the highway, and 6.7 L/100 km combined.

Which 2023 Nissan Versa trim should I buy?

The 2023 Nissan Versa is offered in 3 trim levels: Versa S, Versa SV, Versa SR.

Here's the short version:

• Versa S: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry point and can live without Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. It still gives you a 7-inch touchscreen and a strong standard safety list, so it covers the essentials well.
• Versa SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, NissanConnect Services, a 7-inch driver-information display, wireless phone charging, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a driver attention alert.
• Versa SR: Choose this if you want the most upscale feel and the most tech. It adds an 8-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, a six-speaker audio system, heated front seats, automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, LED headlights, and extra visual flair.

The base Versa S includes the standard driver-assistance suite, while the SV adds more advanced safety features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Nissan Versa?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer's market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 23.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 106 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.18% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $18,818 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Nissan Versa's resale value?

The current average of $18,843 CAD sits slightly below last year's $20,748 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Versa is currently more buyer-friendly than it was a year ago. If you plan to sell later, you should expect value retention to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim, since the market is already pricing this model as an affordable used-car option. For a future seller, that means a clean, well-kept example should stand out more than a higher-mileage one with visible wear.

Is the 2023 Nissan Versa safe?

The 2023 Nissan Versa earns a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in side-impact crash testing and four-star ratings in the frontal and rollover categories.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard driver-assistance suite includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rear automatic braking, lane-departure warning, and high beam assist. The SV adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a driver attention alert.

The IIHS has not published updated safety ratings for this model year, though older testing gave it the highest “Good” ratings in side-impact and moderate overlap front crash tests.

Should I buy a 2023 Nissan Versa or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 23.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.18% compared with last year.
• It appeals to you as a basic subcompact sedan with freshened styling, more available tech features, strong fuel efficiency, and excellent value for money.

The bottom line: The 2023 Versa is the right pick if you want the freshest version of this basic, efficient sedan and you value its updated styling and added tech. If you are mainly price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2023’s softer pricing and solid inventory make it a sensible place to start.
