Yes — the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder earns a 4.67/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its stylish design, comfortable interior, and especially the second-row seating. The sound system also comes up often as a highlight, and reviewers like the vehicle’s good power and utility.

The main trade-offs are its high starting price and the ride quality, which can be hard to balance. The shifter design is another recurring complaint, especially for shoppers who want a more intuitive daily-driving experience.

For you, that makes the Pathfinder a strong fit if you want a family-focused midsize SUV with space, comfort, and a more rugged image. It is especially appealing if you need one vehicle to handle commuting, family duties, and road trips.

The expert evaluation reinforces that impression by describing the engine and automatic transmission as smooth and quiet, which supports a low-stress ownership experience. The Pathfinder also comes with a three-year/60,000-kilometre new vehicle warranty and five-year/100,000-kilometre powertrain warranty.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about living with the Pathfinder’s quirks and feature mix over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Nissan Pathfinder?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The S trim gives you AWD, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, cloth upholstery, and an 8-inch touchscreen, while higher trims add features such as a panoramic moonroof, power liftgate, leather, a head-up display, and a Bose audio system. The Rock Creek stands out with its rugged styling, off-road tuned suspension, all-terrain tires, and water-repellent interior, while the Platinum adds second-row captain chairs and a more upscale cabin.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.5-litre V6 with 284 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic and standard AWD. The Rock Creek is tuned to 295 hp and 270 lb-ft, and it adds off-road shocks and a slightly taller suspension.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, forward and reverse collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, lane-departure warning, rear parking sensors, driver-attention monitoring, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and ProPilot Assist with lane centring and adaptive cruise control. The SV adds front parking sensors and a 360-degree parking monitor, while the SL adds traffic-sign recognition and navigation-linked ProPilot Assist.
• Infotainment: The standard system uses an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The SL, SL Premium, and Platinum upgrade to a 9-inch screen, and the Pathfinder also includes Bluetooth, satellite radio, voice recognition, and a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The Pathfinder returns 11.6 L/100 km in city driving, 9.2 on the highway, and 10.5 combined. The Rock Creek is rated at 11.9 L/100 km city, 10.0 highway, and 11.1 combined.

Which 2023 Nissan Pathfinder trim should I buy?

The 2023 Nissan Pathfinder is offered in 6 trim levels: S, SV, Rock Creek, SL, SL Premium, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the value starting point if you want the Pathfinder’s core strengths without stretching the budget. You still get AWD, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and the standard safety and infotainment setup, so it covers the essentials well.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a panoramic moonroof, a tow hitch receiver, a surround-view monitor, LED fog lamps, and a motion-activated power liftgate. If you want a more complete family SUV without jumping too far up the price ladder, this is the one to focus on.
• Rock Creek: Choose this if you want the most rugged-looking Pathfinder and plan to make use of its off-road tuned suspension, all-terrain tires, heavy-duty roof rack, and water-repellent interior. It is the trim that most clearly leans into the Pathfinder’s tougher personality.
• SL: This trim is the sweet spot if you want a more premium daily driver. It adds ProPilot Assist with navigation-linked traffic-sign recognition, leather seats, a 10-way power passenger seat, and wireless charging.
• SL Premium: Pick this if you want the upgraded tech and audio experience, thanks to the 20-inch wheels, head-up display, and Bose 12-speaker system.
• Platinum: This is the top choice if you want the most upscale Pathfinder, with second-row captain chairs, heated and ventilated front seats, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and rain-sensing wipers.

The safety package is strong across the range, but the SV and above add useful parking and driver-assistance upgrades that make daily use easier.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Nissan Pathfinder?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 475 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.40% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $38,332 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder's resale value?

The current average of $38,338 CAD sits slightly below last year's $42,787 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Pathfinder has become more accessible for used buyers, which can help support demand in the near term. For a future seller, it also means you may need to be more competitive on pricing if the market stays soft.

The year-round low of $38,332 CAD shows where the market has already been willing to transact, while the high of $42,963 CAD suggests there is still room for stronger examples to command more money. Trim, condition, and equipment will matter more when you eventually resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder safe?

The 2023 Nissan Pathfinder is a Top Safety Pick+ from the IIHS, its highest ranking.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assistance features include forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, forward and reverse collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, lane-departure warning, rear parking sensors, driver-attention monitoring, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and ProPilot Assist with lane centring and adaptive cruise control. The SV adds front parking sensors and a 360-degree parking monitor, while the SL adds traffic-sign recognition and navigation-linked ProPilot Assist.

One caveat is that the NHTSA has not completed a full suite of crash tests on this model year.

Should I buy a 2023 Nissan Pathfinder or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.40% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• For 2023, Nissan added the Rock Creek edition, giving the Pathfinder a more rugged option in the lineup.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $33,368 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $38,338 CAD average.
• It offers a rugged-looking body style with thoughtful features and strong safety reassurance.

The bottom line: If you want the newer model-year pricing context and the added Rock Creek choice, the 2023 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2022 is the smarter value play and still delivers much of the Pathfinder’s appeal.
