How much does the 2023 Nissan Frontier cost?

Prices have softened 1.98% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 153 listings available, which suggests a decent amount of inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2023 Nissan Frontier a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Nissan Frontier earns a 4.9/5 user rating and an 8.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its powerful performance, comfortable interior, and modern features. They also value it highly against rivals, and some mention that it feels like a fantastic choice for a midsize pickup. On the trade-off side, the expert review points to a sluggish transmission and poor fuel economy.

For you, that means the Frontier makes the most sense if you want a midsize pickup that balances capability with comfort rather than chasing the latest redesign trends. With 34.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities.

Is the 2023 Nissan Frontier reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that feels dependable, with praise for its powerful performance, comfortable cabin, and modern features. Drivers also describe it as a strong value choice, which usually matters when you want something you can count on over time.

The expert review adds that Nissan kept the truck largely familiar for 2023, which can be reassuring if you prefer a settled design. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Frontier’s fuel economy and transmission behaviour may remain everyday annoyances rather than deal-breakers.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Nissan Frontier?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes S, SV Convenience, SV, Pro-4X, Midnight Edition, and SV Premium. The base S misses some comfort equipment that is available on higher grades, while the Pro-4X adds unique styling touches and the Midnight Edition blacks out the grille, wheels, mirrors, badging, interior accents, and headliner.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.8-litre V6 with 310 hp and 281 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The truck uses standard 4WD in Canada, and the expert review notes that the transmission can downshift more than you may want on the highway.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning, trailer sway control, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a driver-attention monitor, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and rear-door alert. Traffic-sign recognition is standard on Pro-4X.
• Infotainment: Most trims use an 8-inch touchscreen, while Pro-4X gets a 9-inch system. Wireless Apple CarPlay is standard on Pro-4X, but S and SV trims still require a wired connection for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. OTA capability is not mentioned.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates most versions at 12.8 L/100 km city, 10.2 L/100 km highway, and 11.6 L/100 km combined. The Pro-4X is rated at 13.3 L/100 km city, 10.5 L/100 km highway, and 12.0 L/100 km combined.

Which 2023 Nissan Frontier trim should I buy?

The 2023 Nissan Frontier is offered in 6 trim levels: S, SV Convenience, SV, Pro-4X, Midnight Edition, and SV Premium.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, but you give up some of the comfort and convenience upgrades found higher up the range. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting point and plan to keep things simple.
• SV Convenience: This is the trim to watch if you want a better balance of equipment and value without jumping all the way to the more expensive versions. It should suit you if you want a practical daily driver with a few useful upgrades.
• SV: This trim sits in the middle of the lineup and gives you a more rounded ownership experience than the base truck. It is a sensible choice if you want a mainstream Frontier without paying for the most feature-rich versions.
• Midnight Edition: This is mainly about the blacked-out appearance package on the SV trim, so it suits you if style matters more than added capability.
• SV Premium: This trim stands out for its available premium audio system and broader comfort focus. It is a strong pick if you want a more upscale-feeling Frontier without going to the off-road-oriented model.
• Pro-4X: This is the best-value trim if you want the most equipment and the strongest feature set, including the larger touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, six-speaker audio, and the most distinctive exterior and interior details. It also gets the off-road-focused hardware and the most complete safety and tech presentation.

Traffic-sign recognition is standard on Pro-4X.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Nissan Frontier?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right truck.

• Deal availability: 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 153 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.98% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $41,771 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Nissan Frontier's resale value?

The current average of $42,014 CAD sits slightly below last year's $42,861 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Frontier has become a bit easier for buyers to access, which can put some pressure on future resale if the market stays well supplied. At the same time, the truck’s value-oriented reputation and strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when you eventually sell.

For you, that means a well-kept Frontier should still be reasonably marketable, especially if it has the equipment shoppers want. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Nissan Frontier safe?

The 2023 Nissan Frontier earns a four-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, with five-star side-crash results, four-star frontal-crash results, and three-star rollover results.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assistance equipment includes forward-collision warning, trailer sway control, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a driver-attention monitor, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and rear-door alert. Traffic-sign recognition is standard on Pro-4X.

The main caveat is that the overall NHTSA result is held back by the frontal-crash and rollover scores, so safety-conscious used buyers should pay close attention to trim and equipment details.

Should I buy a 2023 Nissan Frontier or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.98% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 adds minor updates and more standard features while keeping the Frontier’s familiar formula.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $38,125 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $42,014 CAD average.
• It brings a redesigned truck feel with updated styling, an enhanced powertrain, and a comfortable cabin.

The bottom line: If you want the better-equipped and more current used buy, the 2023 is the safer default. If your priority is saving money and you still want the Frontier’s core strengths, the 2022 is worth a close look.
