Used 2023 Kia Sportage for Sale nearNewmarket, ON

How much does the 2023 Kia Sportage cost?

Prices have softened 9.98% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 635 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Kia Sportage a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Kia Sportage earns a 4.67/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its great value, impressive features, and spacious interior, while also liking its modern styling. That lines up well with the overview: you’re looking at a compact SUV that aims to be a distinctive, well-rounded choice rather than a generic one.

The main trade-off is that performance is described as fairly pedestrian, and the expert review also notes that the lack of a stronger engine undercuts the top trims’ premium feel. Even so, the Sportage makes the most sense if you want style, space, and tech in a compact SUV.

With 34.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s a decent amount of market value to be found.

Is the 2023 Kia Sportage reliable?

Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback also points to a vehicle that feels dependable and trouble-free in day-to-day use, with owners especially appreciating the value and feature content they get for the money. The expert review reinforces that impression by describing the Sportage as a feature-rich vehicle that should please shoppers who prioritise safety, technology, and style.

Kia’s 5-year, 100,000-kilometre comprehensive warranty in Canada also helps reduce early ownership risk for used buyers, though you should still check service history and condition carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Kia Sportage?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the entry point and comes with cloth seats, FWD, and an 8-inch infotainment screen, while higher trims add more upscale cabin materials and more display real estate. The X-Line Limited stands out for its premium safety and convenience equipment, but the base trim leaves out several features that make the Sportage feel more modern.
• Powertrain: The gas model uses a 2.5-litre inline four-cylinder engine with 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It’s competent, but not especially quick, and the review notes that buyers wanting stronger acceleration may prefer to test drive the hybrid instead.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, lane-departure warning, and a backup camera. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit warning arrive on the X-Line, while blind-view monitor and highway driving assist are reserved for the X-Line Limited.
• Infotainment: EX-and-up models get a 12.3-inch touchscreen, while the base LX uses an 8-inch screen. Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on the LX, but the top interface uses wired CarPlay and Android Auto; wireless charging is standard above the LX.
• Fuel efficiency: The gas Sportage is rated at 9.3 L/100 km city, 7.4 highway, and 8.4 combined with FWD, or 10.4 city, 8.5 highway, and 9.5 combined with AWD.

Which 2023 Kia Sportage trim should I buy?

The 2023 Kia Sportage is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, X-Line, EX, EX Premium, and X-Line Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the least expensive way into the Sportage, but it’s also the most stripped-back. You get the core safety tech and wireless smartphone connectivity, yet you miss out on the larger display and several comfort upgrades that make the higher trims feel more complete.
• X-Line: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it’s the first version the review considers truly competitive in the segment. It adds AWD as standard, brings in more rugged styling cues, and unlocks extra safety tech such as blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
• EX: This trim is the point where the Sportage starts to feel more upscale, thanks to the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen and added convenience features. It’s a smart middle ground if you want more tech without jumping all the way to the top end.
• EX Premium: This trim builds on the EX with more equipment and a stronger premium feel, making it a good fit if you want a richer cabin and are willing to pay for it.
• X-Line Limited: This is the most fully equipped version, with the best safety and convenience content, including blind-view monitor, highway driving assist, front and rear parking sensors, projection LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, and a surround-view camera.

The X-Line Limited is the only trim to include Kia’s blind-view monitor and highway driving assist, so if those matter to you, that’s the one to target.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Kia Sportage?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some confidence if you’re comparing listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 635 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.98% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $27,215 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Kia Sportage's resale value?

The current average of $27,215 CAD sits slightly below last year's $30,232 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Sportage has become more accessible for used buyers, which can be a double-edged sword for future sellers. On one hand, it may help you buy at a more favourable point in the cycle. On the other, it means resale values may not be as strong as they were a year ago if market conditions stay soft.

Even so, the Sportage’s strong feature content and broad appeal should help it remain attractive to used shoppers. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Kia Sportage safe?

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The Sportage offers an admirable amount of collision-avoidance tech as standard, including automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, lane-departure warning, and a backup camera. Cruise control is standard, while adaptive cruise control arrives at the EX grade.

As you move up the trim ladder, you get more advanced assistance features. The X-Line adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit warning, while the X-Line Limited adds blind-view monitor, highway driving assist, front and rear parking sensors, projection LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, and a surround-view camera.

One caveat is that neither NHTSA nor IIHS crash-tested the 2023 Sportage at the time of the review, so you won’t find published crash-test results for this model year here.

Should I buy a 2023 Kia Sportage or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.98% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a redesigned look, strong tech, and a roomy cabin to the compact SUV segment.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $21,662 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $27,215 CAD average.
• It offers a familiar design with available turbocharged performance.

The bottom line: If you want the newer design, stronger tech, and broader appeal, the 2023 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2022 is the more budget-friendly route and still gives you a well-equipped compact crossover.
