Is the 2023 Kia Carnival a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Kia Carnival earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

It stands out as a stylish, family-friendly minivan with sliding doors and a practical layout, while also leaning on impressive technology and strong value. The trade-offs are that all-wheel drive is not available and it can be noisy on the highway.

Is the 2023 Kia Carnival reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 Kia Carnival is built around a straightforward front-wheel-drive layout and a V6 powertrain, which keeps the formula familiar for used buyers. Its expert evaluation also points to a well-rounded ownership experience, with strong value and a polished driving feel in most situations.

The performance notes describe the engine and transmission as smooth and capable, which is a good sign for everyday dependability. Kia also includes a complimentary three-year subscription to Kia Connect connected services, which adds convenience early in ownership.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the Carnival’s missing all-wheel drive and hybrid option may matter more as conditions and fuel costs change.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Kia Carnival?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX, LX+, EX, EX+, and SX trims build up equipment step by step, with the base trims missing some of the more upscale presentation and convenience features found higher up.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.5-litre V6 with an eight-speed automatic, 290 horsepower, 262 lb-ft of torque, and a combined fuel consumption rating of 10.6 litres per 100 kilometres.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, rear parking sensors, and a rear-seat reminder system. Blind-spot monitoring arrives at the EX trim, while adaptive cruise control and Safe Exit Assist are standard from EX. Junction Turning Detection starts with EX, and EX+ and SX add a surround-view camera and Blind-Spot View Monitor.
• Infotainment: The 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system includes Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Kia Connect connected services. The 12.3-inch digital instrumentation and infotainment screens are standard on the EX+ and SX trims.
• Fuel efficiency: Kia rates it at 10.6 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving, and the test vehicle averaged 11.1 litres per 100 kilometres on the evaluation loop.

Which 2023 Kia Carnival trim should I buy?

The 2023 Kia Carnival is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, LX+, EX, EX+, and SX.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Carnival’s core space and practicality at the lowest price, but you give up some of the more advanced convenience and safety features found higher up.
• LX+: This trim adds a bit more equipment while staying close to the value end of the range, making it a sensible step up if you want a little more comfort without chasing the top trims.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, Safe Exit Assist, and Junction Turning Detection.
• EX+: Choose this if you want the stronger tech package, including the surround-view camera, Blind-Spot View Monitor, and the 12.3-inch digital instrumentation and infotainment screens.
• SX: This is the most upscale choice, with the richest presentation and the most complete feature set, including the dual 12.3-inch screens and dual power sunroofs.

The safety package builds progressively, so if those driver-assistance features matter to you, the EX and above are the trims to focus on.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Kia Carnival?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 27.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 194 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.49% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $33,105 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Kia Carnival's resale value?

The current average of $33,562 CAD sits slightly below last year's $38,797 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Carnival has become more affordable for used buyers, which can make it easier to move if you price yours competitively later. A softer market today can also mean future sellers need to be realistic about condition, mileage, and trim to stand out.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Kia Carnival or consider a different year?

Choose the 2023 if:

• 27.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.49% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines stylish design with impressive technology and excellent value for money.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $30,235 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $33,562 CAD average.
• It blends crossover styling with VIP-style seating.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $37,177 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $33,562 CAD average.
• It adds a strong driving experience and a more appealing starting price.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, style, and equipment, the 2023 is the sweet spot. If your priority is spending less, the 2022 is the value play; if you want a newer carryover with similar strengths, the 2024 is worth a look.
