How much does the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L cost?

Is the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L earns a 4.8/5 from owners and an 8.2/10 expert rating.

The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Technology, and Safety.

Owners repeatedly praise its stylish design, spaciousness, and comfortable features, and they also highlight its strong engine performance and towing capability. In use, that points to a family SUV that feels upscale and practical rather than purely utilitarian.

The trade-offs are the underwhelming base engine and an irritating transmission.

For buyers who want a three-row SUV with a more premium feel than many mainstream rivals, that mix is compelling. The market also shows 28.6% good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in day-to-day use, with comfort and practicality that owners can count on. The expert assessment also frames it as a solid value proposition, especially given the space and premium feel it delivers.

Jeep also positions the Grand Cherokee L as a good long-term investment thanks to its resale strength.

For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about choosing the right trim and avoiding a version that leaves you wanting more power or refinement.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Laredo and Altitude use an 8.4-inch touchscreen and a 10-inch digital instrument panel, while the Limited, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve get a 10.1-inch touchscreen and full-screen maps on the instrument panel. Lower trims miss some of the richer cabin presentation and larger-screen tech found higher up.
• Powertrain: The standard 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 makes 293 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, but it is described as the weakest part of the vehicle. The chassis is solid and stiff, and the air suspension helps the SUV handle well and ride comfortably.
• Safety package: The available driver-assistance suite includes forward emergency braking, rear park assist and emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Front cross-traffic braking, a backup camera washer, and 360-degree cameras are optional on Limited and Overland trims, while night vision is limited to Summit and Summit Reserve.
• Infotainment: Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on all trim levels. The lower trims use an 8.4-inch touchscreen, while upper trims move to a 10.1-inch unit with navigation and a more upscale presentation.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 4x4 model is rated at 13.0 L/100 km in the city, 9.4 L/100 km on the highway, and 11.3 L/100 km combined.

Which 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L trim should I buy?

The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L is offered in 6 trim levels: Laredo, Altitude, Limited, Overland, Summit, Summit Reserve.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point if you want the Grand Cherokee L’s core space, standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the 8.4-inch touchscreen without stretching the budget. It makes sense if you value the basic package and plan to add only what you truly need.
• Altitude: Choose this if you want a more polished look and feel without jumping all the way to the upper trims. It keeps the same core tech as the Laredo but adds more visual presence and is a sensible step up for style-conscious buyers.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the 10.1-inch touchscreen and navigation, which make the cabin feel much more premium and easier to live with. It also opens the door to more available safety and convenience equipment.
• Overland: Pick this if you want a stronger luxury lean and are willing to pay for a more upscale experience. It builds on the Limited with a richer feature set and is a good fit if comfort and presentation matter most.
• Summit: This is for buyers who want the Grand Cherokee L to feel genuinely premium, with the highest-end cabin treatment and access to features like night vision. It suits you if you want the most advanced and luxurious version without going all the way to the top.
• Summit Reserve: This is the most lavish choice, with the fullest equipment list and the most upscale execution. It is the right pick if you want the most complete Grand Cherokee L and are comfortable paying for it.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, but some advanced features remain trim-dependent, so check carefully if you want night vision or the extra camera-based aids.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it rewards patience and comparison shopping.

• Deal availability: 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 318 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.35% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $40,655 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L's resale value?

The current average of $40,655 CAD sits slightly below last year's $46,381 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you as a buyer today but may temper what a future seller can ask in the near term. Even so, the Grand Cherokee L’s premium positioning and broad appeal should help it stay relevant with shoppers looking for a three-row SUV that feels more upscale than average.

If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. Strong demand for well-equipped examples should also help support values over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L safe?

The 2023 Grand Cherokee L scored a Top Safety Pick+ from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, but only for models built after May 2023, and it earns five-star ratings in every National Highway Traffic Safety Administration test except rollover, in which it scored four stars.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard driver-assistance suite includes forward emergency braking, rear park assist and emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Driver and passenger front knee airbags are standard, while rear side thorax airbags are unavailable.

Front cross-traffic braking, a backup camera washer, and 360-degree cameras are optional on Limited and Overland trims. Night vision is available only on Summit and Summit Reserve, and Active Driving Assist is optional on higher trims.

Because the Top Safety Pick+ result applies only to vehicles built after May 2023, you should verify the build date before you buy.

Should I buy a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.35% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 brings a Top Safety Pick+ result for post-May builds and strong expert scores across comfort, tech, and safety.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $36,802 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $40,655 CAD average.
• The 2022 is a polished three-row SUV with a premium feel and strong owner praise.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of current pricing, safety, and feature content, the 2023 is the better target. If your priority is saving money and you can live with an older model year, the 2022 is the value play.
