How much does the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L cost?

Prices have softened 13.87% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 297 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L earns a 4.83/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its stylish design, spaciousness, and comfortable features, and they also frequently mention strong engine performance and towing capability. In use, that lines up well with its family-friendly three-row layout and more premium feel than many mainstream rivals. The main trade-offs are the underwhelming base engine and the irritating transmission, so it suits you best if you value comfort, space, and upscale presentation more than outright powertrain polish. With 29.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L reliable?

Owners rate it 4.83/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable, with praise centred on its comfortable features, spaciousness, and overall solid ownership experience. The expert assessment also supports that impression by describing the Grand Cherokee L as a good value at both the low and high end of the market, with strong resale appeal. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about basic durability and more about living with a base engine and transmission that may not feel as refined as the rest of the SUV.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lower trims get an 8.4-inch touchscreen and a 10-inch digital instrument panel, while the Limited, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve move to a 10.1-inch touchscreen and full-screen maps on the instrument panel. Higher trims also bring more premium interior materials and features, but lower trims miss some of that upscale presentation.
• Powertrain: The standard 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 makes 293 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, while the optional 5.7-litre Hemi V8 makes 357 horsepower and 390 pound-feet. The V8 is the better choice if you tow or want stronger low-end response.
• Safety package: The available Active Driving Assist works on marked highways, while standard equipment includes forward emergency braking, rear park assist and emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Front cross-traffic braking, a backup camera washer, and 360-degree cameras are optional on Limited and Overland trims.
• Infotainment: Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on all trim levels. The lower trims use an 8.4-inch touchscreen, while Limited and above get a 10.1-inch unit. The system runs Uconnect 5 and is generally quick and easy to use.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 4x4 model is rated at 13.0 L/100 km in the city, 9.4 L/100 km on the highway, and 11.3 L/100 km combined. The V8 is rated at 16.7 L/100 km city, 10.9 L/100 km highway, and 14.1 L/100 km combined.

Which 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L trim should I buy?

The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L is offered in 6 trim levels: Laredo, Altitude, Limited, Overland, Summit, Summit Reserve.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point if you want the Grand Cherokee L’s space, standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the core Jeep character without paying for the bigger screen or luxury extras.
• Altitude: Choose this if you want a more stylish look and a better-feeling cabin than the base trim, while still keeping the lower-price starting point.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the 10.1-inch touchscreen and navigation, making it a strong balance of equipment and price.
• Overland: Pick this if you want a more upscale feel and more available tech, especially if you plan to add features like the premium audio or camera upgrades.
• Summit: This is for you if you want a more luxurious cabin and the higher-end tech and comfort features that push the Grand Cherokee L closer to premium-brand territory.
• Summit Reserve: This is the most lavish choice, with the richest materials and the fullest feature set, but it makes the most sense only if you want the top-spec experience and are comfortable with the price.

The safety package includes standard forward emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and rear park assist, with some advanced features reserved for higher trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 297 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.87% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $40,780 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L's resale value?

The current average of $40,780 CAD sits slightly below last year's $47,345 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can be good news if you are buying now but less ideal if you are planning to sell soon. A softer market usually means future sellers may need to price more competitively to stand out. Even so, the Grand Cherokee L’s strong owner satisfaction and premium positioning should help it remain appealing to used buyers over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L safe?

The 2023 Grand Cherokee L scored a Top Safety Pick+ from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, but only for models built after May 2023—that's when Jeep reinforced the frame for the SUV to score higher in side-impact tests. It also earns five-star ratings in every National Highway Traffic Safety Administration test except rollover, in which it scores four-star.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes driver and passenger front knee airbags, forward emergency braking, rear park assist and emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Front cross-traffic braking, a backup camera washer, and 360-degree cameras are optional on Limited and Overland trims, while night vision is reserved for Summit and Summit Reserve. The Active Driving Assist system is optional on higher trims.

Should I buy a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.87% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a reinforced structure for improved side-impact performance on later-build examples.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $36,623 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $40,780 CAD average.
• It offers a thoroughly composed three-row SUV with a premium-minded character.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of current-market pricing, strong safety credentials, and broad appeal, the 2023 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2022 is the smarter value play, especially if you find one with the equipment you want.
