Is the 2023 Hyundai Palisade a good car?

Yes — it earns a 5/5 from owners and an 8.83/10 from our experts. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its great value, comfortable ride, and spaciousness, especially the third row. The main trade-offs are that some drivers want more engine power and miss features such as folding side view mirrors and wireless Apple CarPlay.

For you, that makes the Palisade a strong fit if you want a family-focused three-row SUV with a premium feel and lots of equipment. It is especially appealing if comfort, space, and value matter more than outright performance.

With 34.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is a decent amount of market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners also describe it as reliable, dependable, and a vehicle they can count on, with strong long-term appeal tied to its comfort and value. The expert assessment also points to a great warranty, which supports confidence in ownership.

That said, used buyers should still budget for normal wear items and verify maintenance history, especially on higher-mileage examples.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Hyundai Palisade?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Preferred trim uses cloth seats and a single sunroof, while Urban adds leatherette, ventilated front seats, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Ultimate Calligraphy brings premium Nappa leather, ventilated rear seats, captain’s chairs, a dual-pane sunroof, and more upscale exterior details.
• Powertrain: You get one powertrain: a 3.8-litre V6 with 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. It is tuned more for comfort and towing than rock-crawling.
• Safety package: Hyundai Smart Sense is standard, with forward collision avoidance, driver attention warning, high beam assist, lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, safe exit warning, and rear seat occupant alert. Highway Driving Assist I is standard on Urban, while Highway Driving Assist II is standard on Ultimate Calligraphy.

Which 2023 Hyundai Palisade trim should I buy?

The 2023 Hyundai Palisade is offered in 3 trim levels: Preferred, Urban, and Ultimate Calligraphy.

Here's the short version:

• Preferred: This is the value play if you want the Palisade’s core strengths at the lowest entry point. You still get the standard safety suite, the 12.3-inch touchscreen, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated second-row seats, and standard all-wheel drive.
• Urban: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds ventilated front seats, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a premium audio system, and Highway Driving Assist I without jumping all the way to the top model.
• Ultimate Calligraphy: Choose this if you want the most upscale Palisade, with Nappa leather, ventilated rear seats, captain’s chairs, a dual-pane sunroof, a head-up display, Highway Driving Assist II, and the most premium exterior touches.

Safety equipment is strong across the lineup, but Highway Driving Assist I is standard only on Urban, while Highway Driving Assist II is standard only on Ultimate Calligraphy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Hyundai Palisade?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 376 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.16% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $39,536 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Hyundai Palisade's resale value?

The current average of $39,536 CAD sits slightly below last year's $46,056 CAD.

That decline suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, which can make resale timing more important if you plan to sell later. If you buy now, you may be entering at a softer point in the pricing cycle, which can help reduce depreciation pressure in the near term. For a future seller, that means condition, mileage, and trim choice will matter even more when it comes time to list.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Hyundai Palisade safe?

Should I buy a 2023 Hyundai Palisade or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.16% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a facelift plus more standard and optional tech and safety features.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $32,672 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $39,536 CAD average.
• It offers standard AWD and a spacious, polished family-SUV layout.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $43,313 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $39,536 CAD average.
• It brings an upscale feel, strong value, and a more distinctive design.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of updated features, strong safety, and softened pricing, the 2023 is the smart default. If your priority is spending less, the 2022 is the value route; if you want a newer-feeling, more premium presentation, the 2024 is worth a look.
