How much does the 2023 Hyundai Elantra cost?

Prices have softened 11.21% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 692 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Hyundai Elantra a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Hyundai Elantra earns a 4.9/5 user rating and an 8.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its fuel economy, safety features, value for the price, and available tech. The Elantra also gets credit for its stylish design and broad range of choices, from basic transportation to more performance-focused versions.

The trade-offs are a potentially polarising design and some concerns about interior quality and cabin noise. For you, that means the Elantra makes the most sense if you want a practical compact sedan that feels well equipped and good value rather than especially upscale.

The market also shows 34.5% of listings as good or great deals, which is a healthy sign for shoppers.

Is the 2023 Hyundai Elantra reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a car people feel they can count on, with repeated praise for fuel economy, safety features, and value. The review summary also highlights dependable ownership impressions alongside the car’s strong efficiency and technology appeal.

Hyundai’s 5-year, 100,000-kilometre bumper-to-bumper warranty adds another layer of confidence for used buyers.

For long-term ownership, the main risk is that some examples may show the interior-quality and cabin-noise complaints owners mention.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Hyundai Elantra?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Essential is the entry point, while the Preferred and Luxury add more upscale equipment and presentation. The Luxury looks and feels more premium than its price suggests, and the N Line Ultimate is the choice if you want the sportier character.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.0-litre four-cylinder with 147 horsepower and a CVT Hyundai calls an IVT in the standard car. If you want a DCT and an independent multi-link rear suspension, look at the N Line Ultimate, Hybrid, or N.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic high-beam headlights, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, a full complement of airbags, ABS with electronic brake force distribution, a driver monitoring system, and a rear-seat reminder system. Higher trims add blind-spot monitoring, rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, Highway Driving Assist, safe exit warning, cyclist detection, and intersection turning assist.
• Infotainment: The available 10.25-inch digital instrumentation and 10.25-inch touchscreen setup is a major draw. It includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, connected services, dynamic voice recognition, navigation, and a wireless charging pad, but CarPlay and Android Auto require a USB connection rather than wireless use.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid consumes 4.7 L/100 km in combined driving, and the test vehicle averaged 7.1 L/100 km during evaluation against an official rating of 6.7 L/100 km.

Which 2023 Hyundai Elantra trim should I buy?

The 2023 Hyundai Elantra is offered in 5 trim levels: Essential, Preferred, Luxury, N Line Ultimate, and N.

Here's the short version:

• Essential: This is the value-first starting point if you want the Elantra’s core strengths without paying for extra tech or luxury touches.
• Preferred: This is the best-value trim if you want a stronger equipment mix, especially because the 10.25-inch displays can be added here as part of a package.
• Luxury: This is the sweet spot for most shoppers, since it brings the upscale cabin feel, the 10.25-inch displays, and the broadest everyday appeal.
• N Line Ultimate: Choose this if you want the sportier setup, including the DCT and the more engaging chassis hardware.
• N: Pick this only if you want the full performance-focused experience and the most serious driving character in the lineup.

The safety package is strongest on higher trims, where features like blind-spot monitoring, rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, Highway Driving Assist, safe exit warning, cyclist detection, and intersection turning assist appear.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Hyundai Elantra?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on a strong listing.

• Deal availability: 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 692 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.21% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $20,884 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Hyundai Elantra's resale value?

The current average of $20,885 CAD sits slightly below last year's $23,523 CAD.

That price decline suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you own one, the current trend points to a softer resale environment than a year ago.

Even so, the Elantra’s broad appeal, strong value story, and efficient reputation should help it remain attractive to used shoppers. Well-equipped examples with the right trim and condition should be easier to move than bare-bones cars with fewer features.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Hyundai Elantra safe?

The 2023 Elantra earned a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and a five-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), with five-star ratings in all crash-test categories except frontal crash protection, where it received four stars.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes automatic high-beam headlights, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, a full complement of airbags, ABS with electronic brake force distribution, a driver monitoring system, and a rear-seat reminder system.

Higher trims add blind-spot monitoring, rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, Highway Driving Assist, safe exit warning, cyclist detection, and intersection turning assist. The main caveat is that the NHTSA frontal crash result is lower than the rest of the vehicle’s ratings.

Should I buy a 2023 Hyundai Elantra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.21% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines broad trim choice, strong value, and a well-rounded tech-and-safety package.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $18,567 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $20,885 CAD average.
• It offers stylish design, a roomy cabin, and strong standard safety features.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $22,577 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $20,885 CAD average.
• It adds more style and standard equipment.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of value, features, and market availability, the 2023 is the strongest all-around pick. If your priority is spending less, the 2022 is the better budget path; if you want the freshest styling and added equipment, the 2024 is worth the extra money.
